I just bought this from
Goodwill.com
Vintage Coach White/Black Purse (40287790)
Could you please let me know whether it is authentic.
I hope the above gives you enough info. I don't know how to post a link to that sight.
Thank you, as always.

No, it's not enough. It's goodwill.org, and searching for the number on the main site doesn't bring up anything. If you bought it from a specific store, you need the URL of that store. I also tried SHOPgoodwill.com but nothing comes up in Search with that number either, or with your description of the item.

Doesn't your phone or app or whatever have a way to copy and paste a link? If you own a full-function computer, try using that instead.

I don't seem to be able to post a proper link on my IPad . I just searched shop goodwill.com and entered the number 40287790 and it came up for me. But I really don't want to be even more of a nuisance than I am already! Thank you for your efforts.

Thank you, Catbird9. Following your directions still doesn't give me the link you set out above . And I can't even blame a lack of caffeine! Must be old age.
Since you are an authenticator, can you tell me whether the bag is genuine, please?

Thanks for the link, Catbird9!

The measurements are a bit off, but it looks like a genuine City Bag Spectator #6790 from around 1991.

Again, many thanks, Hyacinth. How can you tell that it is #6790 rather than #9790? The Spectators I already have are all #9790.
Coach used the style number #6790 for spectator versions of the city bag during the late 80s early 90s. They did this with several classic styles - substituting a 6 for the first 9 in the style number for the spectator version. it is the same style other than the two-tone.
Is there yet another City Spectator with the #9667?
Kimlark has listed a black with white binding at
http://www.ebay.com/itm/272571815286?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

In the early 2000s, they released a different spectator version with style number 9667, which is shown in this listing. It came in three colors, navy, camel and burgundy. The one in the listing is navy, not black, and is authentic.

They also made several spectator versions of classic styles at this time. Many have numbers starting with 966*, but for the court bag, they stuck with 6870, just to confuse people.

And here I thought I was getting a little more knowledgable about Coach! It is so kind of you to share this information (as I take my little Coach Notebook out to add more notes). Thank you.
