IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Because some of the newer styles of bags are being extremely closely faked, I feel that this caveat must be posted.
NO BAG IS TOO NEW TO BE FAKED!

There are times where we (the Coach authenticators) have been unable to positively authenticate a listing because of a lack of the necessary pictures needed for an accurate authentication. This has been happening more frequently as a result of some of the newer styles being scarily "well" faked, i.e., Swaggers, Rogues, Bennett, Saddle bags, etc.

It has come to my attention that someone who lurks here but isn't a Coach authenticator has PM'ed and posted private profile comments stating something to the effect of "____fill in the blank with style name/#___ is too new to be faked. Don't worry about authenticity. BB is wrong."

This is misleading and totally inaccurate and in fact, in at least one of the cases, her comments directed a buyer to a fake.

My suggestion is that if the authenticators advise against a particular listing, if we're unable to authenticate it or if the seller cannot or will not submit additional pictures, find another seller.

Again, NO BAG IS TOO NEW TO BE FAKED!

Hello everyone!
At the Estate sale I found this bag. Seller told me that original strap been chewed up by her dog and she replaced it with strap from Dooney bag, but it's an authentic Coach. I took a chance for $15. Leather felt so good and looks like it's very well made. Did I score? Or have go back? Thanks20170504_125107.jpg20170504_125112.jpg20170504_124925.jpg20170504_124829.jpg

Hello- so happy to be here! I need your expertise! Hope some of the experts here can help tell me if this is authentic or not. It's the Sonoma #4908. The E plant code would match with the Made In Italy.

However, my concern is that a few of the words..."distinctive" and "variations" split between two lines. I have read from other experts that the Italian plant was pretty sloppy with their creeds and I have researched and found Sonomas both with clean creeds where the words do not split and creeds where the words do split so I'm not sure what to think.

HELP! Thanks in advance!

It looks good. The bags with Z at the beginning of the style number indicate bags that were made for discounters. They can be re-releases of previous styles or they can be new, different styles.
That was stumping me.. i kept reading that anything with a z is not authentic..now i get it..that coinsides with the x in the corner! thank you! I really appreciate your help

It's genuine. Some of the Italian creeds hade hyphenated words.

It depends where in the serial number the "Z" is.

Re Z suffix: As for the X on the creed, the Z differs from that. The X indicates a bag that was made for the boutique (or department store) but ultimately sent to a discounter. The Z-style bags were specifically made for the discounters and a bag with a Z serial number would never be in a full-priced department or Coach store.

Re Z prefix: In an attempt to not help counterfeiters perfect their fakes, I'll say there are times when Z in the prefix = fake and other times when it can be on an authentic bag.

Each bag needs to be independently authenticated based on the details of THAT bag itself.
