Please don't assume it's not genuine. Coach DID make a small line with similar details but like BeenBurned said, we need to see the creed.

It can't be authenticated based on the pictures in the listing. The seller's description mentioned the creed but needs to show it.

Thanks, ladies. I don't assume it's fake, and that's the reason I posted it here as a question and not reported straight to the Hall of Shame. If it's authentic, it's not the finest Coach craftsmanship, imho, but it could also be not very flattering pictures.

I seem to remember that they weren't cheap, search Ebay for "Coach Cambridge"

I will, Hyacinth. So far Google has brought me back to - surprise! - the Purse Forum with some pictures of similar models from 2009-2010 seasons:

this clutch in particular (3rd picture from top) looks similar to the swingpack I tried to authenticate:

Often someone who's KNOWINGLY selling a fake Coach will claim that the bag was a gift from a boyfriend / boss / relative or if it's a guy, claim that his GF left the purse(es) at his home when they broke up. That's more common with newer styles. Older known fakes are usually "inherited" from relatives.

As for the backpack, I'm not familiar with the style, and that patch on the outside in the first picture isn't an actual creed patch. Creed patches for a backpack should be on the INSIDE and include a serial number with production codes. Coach sometimes puts a secondary creed patch like this one on the outside front panel of a few styles but it's useless for authentication purposes, but if that one was made before mid-2014 it should have an inside patch with a serial number. I'm not familiar with backpacks made after mid-2014 or how those creeds are formatted - the patch in the third pic looks like it's from inside the pack but that's all I can say.

Do you actually have the case in your possession? There should be 2 tiny white tags buried in 2 different places along inside seams and pockets with the codes we need, one with the country of manufacture and one with 2 lines of alpha-numeric production codes. If you can find those and get clear pictures, we can try to authenticate it. The one tag buried usually in one of the inside zip pockets can be a real PITA to find but we need the information.

Are you one of the authenticators at the tPF Watch forums? Or do you post at more than one watch forum?

The bag arrived today. There is no creed inside the bag. Just the one on the exterior. There was only one tag inside, a made is Vietnam tag. No others and I looked hard.

Based on what I have read here, I am not encouraged, but I also know I do not have enough experience in knowing what to look for.

This line was counterfeited a lot, so you have to be careful.

Hello,

I come from the watch world and there is a huge problem with fakes. Over the years the fake watches have become so authentic looking that most cannot tell the difference and like this thread over at the watch forum there is a similar one to help the community.

With that said, we also have rules before buying, that are almost identical. Of course, I followed none of them for my first online coach purchase

Of course, I am now doing this after the fact. Thanks so much.

We get many new people that will post a watch asking for authentication. The fakes are 90%+ given to them from an uncle. The real ones from a grandfather. Just wondering if you have something similar here?

Thanks!!

Look and feel around inside the bag inside the zipper pocket. It takes some serious feeling around to find it.

I think it looks okay but I'd still like to confirm that the tag is hiding in there somewhere.

ETA: BTW, it looks like there are two compartments; one on top and the bottom zipper compartment. Look inside all compartments, pockets and anywhere a tag might have been placed.

ETA again: I believe your backpack is a voyager style 70419, made for factory.

I don't see any problems that would indicate that the bag is anything other than authentic though I believe there's either a creed with serial number or a tag with mfg. info.

Ok, well I looked and I looked and no other tags.

This looking got me curious so I looked at another coach bag I own, one where I in fact purchased direct from the outlet center in Palm Springs, CA about 4-5 years back and it had a made in china tag, that I will admit was incredibly hard to find.

I'm surprised there isn't even a creed patch inside, even after they stopped stamping serial numbers on it they still kept the creed patches. But again, I don't know diddly about recent backpack styles and that's apparently an Outlet style which makes it even harder to track down.

ETA - here's its twin, but without tags and with no visible inside creed in this one either. From a 1-Feedback seller:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mens-Coach-Backpack-/302219595369?hash=item465db10e69:g:4woAAOSwjDZYft~F
The listing's sub-heading claims "Special Edition from Coach's Signature Selection" but there's no proof of that claim, and has Coach started calling non-Signature C pattern fabric items "Signature"?
AND - the pack was shown as Sold on Feb 7 and now is relisted, or an identical one with the same photos. No FB from the first sale if in fact it was ever paid for:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/ecastiglione/m.html?item=302219595369&hash=item465db10e69:g:4woAAOSwjDZYft~F&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2046732.m1684

ETA again - no other ones at Ebay under "Coach nylon backpack" in Current or Completed, and nothing at Google Images for "Coach backpack".
