It's a different style altogether. There aren't any reinforcement leather strips that extend under the strap mountings either, and the strap attachments are different. It won't have the same style number. I'm wondering about the stitching at the base of the straps, it looks strange and not as neat as I'd expect from Coach. The kind-of-padded-but-not-really strap mounting tabs on the body of the bag look odd too. Most handbag styles with those kind of rolled handles use rivets at the base of the straps, not the sloppy stitching I'm seeing in those photos. Now I'm wondering if that creed stamp even belongs to that case, and whether it's actually a Coach. Those half-rolled straps or handles or whatever they are don't seem very practical as shoulder straps. Or maybe the straps were added afterwards by the owner onto some kind of Portfolio?

I'll try to find it in my catalogs.

Oh dear. I can see what you mean.
I have a few electronic Coach catalogs I was just looking thru. Could this be a Gramercy Brief 1991?

I've paid but it hasn't shipped yet (just a shipping label created).
Should I contact the seller to hold off?

Here's another odd mini city bag. This is the first one I've ever seen in white and I've NEVER seen one with COACH imprinted on the front....not to mention it's missing the hang tag and proper key ring and chain.

That one looks terrible! The logo looks off. The letters are too thick. There is a raised edge to each letter. That wouldn't happen with the kind of stamping equipment Coach used. I would feel comfortable reporting it.

I really appreciate that Hyacinth!
FYI I did realize that it was a different style than the one I had bought for my sister-in-law.
But I am OK with that as it is close in size, and has those big outside pockets which will help keep my papers organized.

UHOH - just read your added info. Hope it's authentic - pls keep me posted!

See my previous post - it's apparently authentic.

ETA - never mind, you have the same electronic catalogs that I do! It only shows up in that single one, and somehow that one picture was missed when I copied most of the styles over to my regular photo files.

ETA - I think I found it.
Style 5092, Gramercy Brief that was listed as New in the Spring 1991 catalog. Same details and straps including non-riveted attachments. It had disappeared by Spring 1992. Here's a photo from the Holiday 1991 book:

Phew!!!!!! Thank you.
Just making sure - do you think it's an authentic 5092?

The creed and serial stampings look right and as long as they actually belong to that bag, it's ok. Honestly, I don't think those shoulder straps are going to be very comfortable though, they're probably going to keep falling off. Didn't some members who posted about newer styles have problems with that same type of rolled shoulder strap? That could be one of the reasons the style was discontinued so quickly. But if that happens you can always re-sell it.

Thank you so much for your help Hyacinth!!!!
Am so glad I don't have to contact the seller now -
I feel bad enough for all of the confusion my goof has caused here.
(Maybe I can blame it on Friday the 13th??)

I think you're right about those straps... But I won't be actually walking around with it too much -
just using it as a portable file cabinet. And like you said, I can always sell it.

I bet we DO have the same electronic catalogs!
I just don't know them as well as you do - I only know the Sonoma pages.

Thanks again!
