Good evening ladies! I was hoping someone could authenticate this wallet/billfold (perhaps it is Men's?) for me. The original pictures in the listing aren't that great, however, I have it in hand-pun intended-now. She lives a few towns over from me and she takes returns if unsatisfied. The date code/code stamp reads: 203808 VHOG1 1000 EPEV 2008 1319 A. The leather is right, the weave matches up/aligns well, but the tyvek is not frayed and the zipper is not RiRi. I don't know what to think as I am nowhere CLOSE to the collective level of expertise here. Any help, including the style name of this wallet, would be GREATLY appreciated. You ladies have a wonderful night, M.

I'm concerned about this wallet. The color code is for black and the seller says it's gold (on my monitor it looks silver). Also there are a couple of other details that bother me. If it were me, just based on the incorrect white tag, I would return it and get my money back. Just my opinion.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I really appreciate your earnestness in helping me with this wallet. I am not sure which one is the color code but, if it's the "VH" one, it's possible it is VH0(zero) and not "O" (like the letter). If that makes ANY difference. That's the only alpha numeric I couldn't discern. I contacted the seller and we'll see how it goes. I knew I was going out on a limb with it, but it was SO hard to tell with the metallic reflection...I am a fairly new BV girl, only having a key cles coin purse with key ring from my mum and a vinyl BV tote with the old illustrated tag. I guess this is a case of "learning as I go" and one thing I learned was to bring it to you wonderful ladies first. ;) Again, thanks so much, M.

Thank you for the double (in)authentication. I really appreciate your help. I am so new to the BV circuit and I am thankful for your expertise. I hope this bag is a better bet. I've had good relations with this store in the past re: handbags I DO know quite a bit about and, for some bags, they outsource authentication to reputable sites/people:

Item Name: BOTTEGA VENETA Brown Old Woven Petra Nappa Leather Umbria Tote Handbag

I've never seen anything from Linda that isn't authentic. This bag is authentic--the official color name is Moro--a very dark brown. In the title for the bag, they say *Old Petra*, but I don't know why--Old Petra is a color and has nothing to do with the style or leather. So ignore the Old Petra part of the bag title.

Excellent! Thank you so much! And thank you for the clarification in the title description. Yes, I agree. I have had NOTHING but wonderful experiences with the ladies there and I've purchases several (more than several--just don't tell Hubs) handbags from them. I guess I was just gun-shy given my obvious lack of knowledge with Bottega. And, gee, boxermom...you are so wonderfully quick! You soothed my soul and made everything right with the world after my rookie mistake. ;)

I have a vintage bag like this style in red and like it very much. Your mirror is in much better condition than the old mirrors I have! You have a very nice bag.

thanks boxermom. i'm lovin' vintage bottega bags. they really do last! considering that this one is likely to be from the 70s (which explains why i'm not very familiar with it as the other 2 i have are both from the 80s), i'm amazed at how the leather remains buttery soft and relatively stain- and scuff-free. perhaps the reason why i had initial doubts about its authenticity as well. :)

The really old ones, if cared for, seem to last forever and just get softer and smoother. I think they used a different kind of Nappa back then--a SA was telling me about the Nappa leather changes over the years.

I have bought a BV medium belly veneta handbag from an online store. It is brand new and cost me only USD 1360 (retail price in USD2000), but after i received the bag, I am a bit worry it is a fake bag. As my friend questions why the bag can be so cheap.

Would anyone can help to authentic my bag, i still have chance to return to that shop.
Also, I have searchef on web, seems the certified label has changed and my bag code is totally different to previous one, no item code, manufacturing year, colour etc. Why ?

Here is my bag album

Thanks a lot.

Authentic
they have changed the tags
the info on them now does not mean anything except to the factory
