Thanks, lkweh. I was unsure because I thought that the stitches near the tag was poorly done. I am more assured now. By the way, do you know the color of this bag?
I am not lkweh, but I can tell you: It is the color "Orchid".

It's not 'poorly stitched', but rather has that unique uniformly frayed edged unique to authentic BV tags.

Thanks for your reply. I was referring to the stitches on the bag and not the frayed edges of the tag. I thought it could be orchid too but I did some research online and the color orchid was released in S2010 and the tag on the bag says 2009. Could you shed some light on this?

Yes - 2009 dates on tags are for the following season - hence, 2009 = 2010. 2010 = 2011, and so forth.

Comments: She has confirmed the presence of the white authenticity tag in the end seam, but can't get a good enough picture of it. (She didn't even see the tag until I told her where to look!) She's also confirmed the heat stamp, but again, can't get a good enough photo.

Anybody know what this style was originally used for/called?

this is also called a document case. Nero with Ebano trim
