Hello,

I'm new to PurseForum, so I hope you'll bear with me if I make any mistakes.

Could you please authenticate this BV?

Item Name: New 100%Auth Bottega Veneta Beige Pleated Hobo $2490
Listing number: 320724484475
Seller name or ID: designermgt
Working Link: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...484475&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_739wt_1139

Comments:
The seller claims that she bought this in Neiman Marcus early this year and it didn't have the dustbag with it. Also, that the missing authenticity tag is a quality assurance defect.

When I received the item, I realized that the inner lining of the bag is NOT made out of Suede leather, but instead of a Suede-like cloth.

When I told that seller that I want to return it because it's a fake, she vehemently denies that it's a fake because she bought it herself in Neiman Marcus. She also wants me to have the bag authenticated but being in Melbourne, Australia, there are NO BV stores here which is why I had to buy on-line.

I can ask her for a copy of the receipt, but that can be faked as well.

Would you know if there are ANY BV bags that only have a suede-cloth lining?
Would Neiman Marcus accidentally sell BV replicas?

Thanks very much for your help.

Hi, sorry, but this is fake in my opinion. In fact, it looks like the one that has been circulating on ebay for a while!

LOOK! Check her buyer feedback. I think here is her purchase of it on ebay back in March. I remember this bag and I think it showed up a while in the Shame section here!

Good buyer, prompt payment, valued customer, highly recommended. Member id bhexpress ( Feedback Score Of 809659) 09-Mar-11 15:51

Comments: Seller had originally posted online store photos; I asked her to posts photos of the actual bag, which she did.

Hi, glad the seller listened, but we still need to see where the "bottega veneta" is imprinted on to the leather and a clear shot of the other side of the auth. tag :smile1:

I, too, believe that this is a fake. Her pictures suggest it. I have this bag. I do not believe it ever came in this color - but that aside the pleating is poor (looking sloppier and not as many pleats as the authentic bag), the lining should be suede not suede cloth (but she did say in her listing that it was suede cloth), there must be an authenticity tag sewn into the lining of the pocket - and the zipper of this one was gold colored (not silver) - and the zipper pull on this bag is incorrect.

There is no BV boutique that will authenticate this for you. You will have to go with another authenticator if she would even accept that - her listing has too many red flags. I feel for you, because this happened to me several years ago. Take a deep breath...

You do not want to negotiate with her she will stall and you will end up losing filing time. Did you pay via Paypal with a credit card? I am not familiar with Aus. law and procedure, but if you did you might have a backup position.

First, please take screenshots of the listing and pictures of the bag off the auction site. Next file a complaint with ebay and paypal claiming that this bag is a counterfeit and you would like to return it for a full refund of bag an all shipping costs. At this point you will now only listen to the instructions given to you by paypal - not the seller. Even if she says that no returns are accepted, it is a violation of international law to sell a counterfeit bag - knowingly or unknowingly. In your complaint, please put the information that Miss_FancyBags provided to you... that it appears she purchased this bag from bhexpress in March from her feedback and is now trying to unload it on an unsuspecting buyer. You will note that although bhexpress left feedback for her - she failed to leave it for them.

It will take time, and ebay.au is not as good about removing fakes as ebay.us which is why I suggest that you file with paypal. If you did pay by credit card through paypal (which I always suggest) you can contact them if Paypal is unresponsive after about 15 days. File directly with them thereafter.

Remember after this is over, leave feedback so that other buyers will be informed.

Good luck and please keep us posted!

She did fine - and I am glad that she is so cooperative. This looks good to me.

Are you going for another cervo hobo? I love the one I have!

I'm seriously considering it, but - there are too many puzzle pieces that have to fall into place for it to happen before this auction ends. Sigh.

:heart:Thanks so much for your help on this!

Thanks very much for your help. I had my suspicions at first when I was considering to buy the item, but because: a) the seller kept insisting that she bought it at Neiman Marcus, b) I wasn't very familiar with recent models of that bag, and c) I thought her seller feedback was good--so I was tempted to buy it.

I should have listened to my instincts. Good news is, I did pay through Paypal, so that's a layer of protection on my part.

Thanks again for all of the advice. In the future, I'll definitely ask for help in this forum on authenticating things first, BEFORE committing to buy. A hard lesson learned.

I'll let you know how it goes. :smile1:

Thanks so much for confirming what I suspected all along.

That's really awful to know that it's been circling in ebay for a while! Makes me feel for anyone else that might fall victim to the seller.

I've bought a few vintage BVs on ebay and so far my experience was good. It's unfortunate that I get my only bad experience on the most expensive BV I've bought on ebay. Hopefully though, I can still return it and get my money back.

Thanks again for your help.
