Well, stupid me, I didn't even know they made Botkier knockoffs. I bought a metallic bronze trigger on eBay. It was cheap but it was also well-used so I thought the price was fair. THEN I came on here and read through this thread and saw that fakes have black canvas lining. Looking closer at the pics, I also think the leather looks "plastic-y" as people have described the fakes. I really don't know anything about Botkier bags so I need your help.

I have been browsing and found that my bag looks exactly like the one in this thread: http://forum.purseblog.com/botkier/botkier-trigger-did-i-buy-a-fake-138407-2.html and there was never an answer for that one, either.
I got the bag today and honestly, I have no idea. It has a strong chemically smell but I can't tell if it's a fake plastic smell or if it has just been stored with mothballs. It is small but moderately heavy, and the leather is stick but kind of stiff like the handles squeak together.
Anyone?

Thanks for replying. I actually sent that bag back because the mothball smell was really strong and it just wouldn't go away. :/ Disappointing. But that's how Bay is sometimes.i have the same bag in light pink

It looks real but I would ask for pictures of the top, interior and nameplate just to be sure and to make sure everything is in good condition. You can see what it's supposed to look like on this video:
