I'm thinking it's fake because it looks so close to the trigger saddle bag but it's not quite.

Actual Trigger Saddle:

Thank you everyone!

Hi Broke. I am sorry, there aren't enough pictures. It's either fake or extensively (and badly) "repaired", though. Obviously, whatever it is it's very beat up. The front two tabs/tassels are missing and those big, round brackets are not original if they ever were. I'd like to see close-ups of the zipper pull, dog leash and interior to see if any part of this is really Botkier but then again, it's only $20. :)

Thank you so much. It does look beat up but I was hoping with my boyfriend's extensive leather experience we could rehabilitate it, perhaps even by dying. I think you've taken me off the fence on this one, especially since the seller has quite a lot of neutrals and negatives. Sigh, I hope a real one comes up one day for a price I can afford.

I'd rather not carry around a fake, even if it is only about $30 total. Besides the obvious downsides of fakes, my thought is if it's fake the leather and stitching will probably be very bad. Also, I don't see where any glue would be used but to me this is the biggest downside of fakes. I mistakenly bought a pair of fake shoes once (didn't even know they were a knockoff) and when they arrived the smell of cheap glue filled my entire apartment. Had to throw them out immediately.

Oh no. I wasn't suggesting you carry a fake. I only meant that at least it was only a $20 gamble as to whether or not it was fake. I think there's a good chance that it was actually a Botkier bag at one point but has already been altered a good deal. Or maybe it's just "inspired" and not branded Botkier in which case it's not actually counterfeit (but also not worth $20 in its current condition). Also, if your boyfirend is a leatherworker he could probably salvage the leather.

That said, I think your decision is the right one. I wouldn't take the chance and the seller's bad fb makes me nervous, too. I hope a better one pops up for you. Good luck!

uadjit, I got what you meant in your original post, no worries! I am again very grateful to you for your advice. If nothing else, the seller isn't being honest about changes made to the bag and I don't want to give them any money. And while it is a small amount to gamble, gambling a few dollars here and there can add up. Especially when you can't in good conscience resell your gamble.

I got the handbag this Thursday and was quite disappointed about it.

1. The leather quality is inferior not only compare to my own trigger but also as a handbag in general. I doubt if the leather is top grain or not. It is by no means "supple black leather".

2. The handbag has a weird fragrance smell, which is rather unpleasant and am afraid is toxic.

3. The magnetic closure of the two side pockets does not seem to work at all.

I think it's a fake. Just my 2 cents. Buyer be aware.

The seller said she got it for $289 this year from Hautelook. She said she will give me a scan of the receipt but I have not heard from her yet. The fact that she got a handbag from Hautelook does not mean the handbag on my hand is real.

I am not convinced but would not get into an unnecessary argument with her.

I am paying return shipping and drop it off tomorrow. The seller has a 14 day return policy so hopefully there is no more hassle with return etc.

Thanks for all your help. Now I am sticking to the good source to buy handbags.

Is the one you got the one in the pictures? If so I think it is authentic. There's another thread in this subforum about how recent Triggers that have been popping up at Nordstrom Tack stores have inferior leather and overall quality. Hautelook is owned by Nordstrom. I'd not be surprised if this Trigger came from the same lot as those funky Rack ones.

Hoping someone will respond to my previous post?

I am desperate to check the authenticity of this Trigger. Please help!

Hi ni****ak.

I'm sorry but I can't tell you for sure without seeing the interior. It looks OK so far in the pictures provided but there is not enough detail. You can post pictures of the bag once you get it to be sure.

One thing to note: the bag said "new" and that there were no marks in the description but there's a photo of two blue pen marks on the top of the bag. Hope you noticed that! :)

EDIT: LOL! The forum edited out the middle of your name!
