I've chatted with a couple of gals with eagle eyes and good authenticating chops (many thanks @fayden and @Conni618 ) and none of us have seen that type of peeling before. That said, there's some type of finish on the brass as we can see it gradually wear away off of studs etc on many bags. Maybe the finish wasn't properly applied and is peeling, I really have no idea. Stitching was mentioned, the stitching at the bottom of the leather pieces where the studs and buckles are isn't as clean as it usually is, and the leather looks a little different, but it's tough to tell from pics. I did find a tag that's pretty much exactly like yours, so don't see anything that stands out enough to say it's not authentic.
That's about the best I can do, you have the bag in hand and have others so if you feel it's authentic you're probably right.

Does it look as if the bag was dyed/touched up in spots? Where I circled in yellow you can almost see what looks like brush strokes (?) of something being painted on. Regardless, the leather inside the buckle looks smoother than elsewhere. Also some of the threads in the stitching (circled in blue) don't show that normal texture in the thread, which makes me think something was applied in that area that caused the thread to absorb it.

Could be that someone tried to do a touch up, those high points often show wear.

Ink is authentic.
Emerald looks fine except, something going on with the rivet photo. Not notched in the pic. Can you take a couple more shots of that one? Also a photo of another rivet to be sure?

I think it's probably just one of those one off anomalies we run in to.

Yay, thanks for confirming the ink and sorry about the first photos for the 06 emerald! Here are clear ones of the rivets.

Third up: 2002 FB First in Black from Yoogi's Closet. I feel super lucky to experience this bag. From what I've gathered, it should be the season 3 arena leather. It's in amazing condition for its age and has a smooth and pillow-y hand feel.
