And just FYI, this is the SAME SELLER of the CITY bag sold to both melissab & mjlover (which Melissa ended up with, and hers is auth)
Here is the WHOLE LONG story... AND I posted a photobucket in this thread of the AUTH bag photos that the seller is using in her auctions to sell the fake firsts ... as I suspect they may come up again.

I am new to B-bags but really digging black PT or City.

Could you guys tell me if these two are authentic?

1. 2006 Ink Chevre City

Despite both bags being in Chevre (goat leather), why such huge price difference? Could the cheaper one be fake?

Also, does 2005 Jet Black Chevre worth the extra, as it seems much more expensive than other Cities?

Both City are authentic. You know those two bags colors are different, right?

I believe most of Bal fans would agree 2005 Bbags have the best leather and color. An excellent to new condition 2005 bag could be very pricey. So the price difference between the two is understandable.

FIRST ONE IS AUTHENTIC :tup:
THE SECOND ONE LOOKS FINE, BUT ASK FOR A PIC OF THE RIVET JUST TO BE SURE.
THE BLACK IS PROBABLY THE MORE DESIRED COLOR AND LEATHER, THUS THE HIGH PRICE. I'VE SEEN THEM A BIT CHEAPER.

I do like Black better, but since it's going to be my first B-bag, am not so sure if I want to pay that much.. (maybe I should educate myself more on B-bag to really appreciate the difference in leather quality and the like)

Would you, as B-Bag experts, bite the bullet and get Black Chevre City? Or should I just get a brand new one?

A bit off thread topic, but would really appreciate your opinion!

Try using the search function to have a look for threads discussing the best and worst characteristics of each year's leather. Generally most people believe 2005 has the best, hence the high resale prices, but it really does come down to the individual bag and whether you want smooth, wrinkly, distressed, veiny, thick, etc leather or not. There are plenty of black Citys with fantastic leather from every year and black is repeated every season so you don't have to worry about missing out. Hope that helps!:smile1:
