Hello everyone,

I'm new on TPF :)
I'm thinking of buying an Alexander McQueen skull scarf second hand, and was wondering if you guys could help me authenticate based on the couple of pictures I attached!

Thanks

Hi,

I bought this Alexander Mcqueen scarf at a auction, it was listed as a "vintage alexander mcquuen scarf". Would you take a look at it please. ;-)
I'm pretty sure the material used is genuine silk, as the touch is exactely the same as my silk Paul Smith scarf.

This looks suspicious to me but I am no expert.

The way the tag is sown onto the edge of the scarf doesnt look right to me because it is not perfectly aligned with the edge. The tag itself looks real though. I am also suspicious because of the fringe, it is knotted on and not created from the weft, which does not look right to me. I also feel like all the skulls that arent smudged are all completely uniform, which does not occur on my silk skull scarf. All the skulls on my classic scarf have slight variations from the printing process. Lastly, i couldnt find that scarf of lyst, polyvore, or any other site no matter what search terms i used...

I would wait for someone more knowledgable to really authenticate it but I am suspicious.

Thanks for your reply,

I should have said the right side of the AM tag had come loose and I had it re-attached at my local tailor.
I had the same problem finding the scarf, couldn't find either a orignal or replica anywhere.
If anyone else wants to help me out please do:

I also should have said the scarf is rather short:
116cm x 23.5cm (not measuring the fringe)
It was listed as a men's scarf
