Thanks Bvlgari_babe...
I recently bought a used vintage YSL sunglasses on eBAY there was no manufacture trade mark details on both temples of the glasses, so naturally I opened a case with PayPal as the seller is refusing to take it back, and unable to provide proof of purchase. I was asked by paypal to produce a document stating its not authentic from a dealer/manufacture in 7 days... otherwise they will dismiss the case.
I contacted Safilo company (the company who manufactures most of the top designer glasses) and they advised to drop the glasses with one of their distributor (optometrist) and they can send it through to the repairs/warrenty department for authenticity assessment. Even for authentic glasses, the printings on the arm can rub off with time and usage. I am still waiting for the assessment from them .... (I am not sure if I will make the 7 day deadline).
A word of warning to others buying sunglasses on ebay, the proof of counterfeit lies with the buyer. Therefore be very careful with your purchase.... and if you did have doubts, act quickly and get it assessed ASAP...
