I would look at the stones in person if you already haven't. Asscher are breathtaking but wasn't there one member here (or was it at Pricescope) who received a 2 or 1.5 asscher and it looked like a 1 carat to her and eventually within a short period of time she switched to round?
Anyways, after a quick check on BlueNile, their "signature ideal" (supposedly best cut offered on the site), a 1.51ct Asscher has measurements at 6.4mm (similar to a 1ct round). Whereas a well cut 1.5 ct round has measurements of 7.4mm.
Your ring is gorgeous and exactly what I have been searching the Internet to find a pic of! I could find tons on cushions in that setting but no asschers- so glad I can finally see what it really looks like before I get mine. I had 2 questions for you though: how many carats if your asscher and in the setting white gold or platinum? I'm struggling with which metal to go with.this is my e-ring in a halo harry winston-style setting. i think halos look really good in cushion but i just loved the asscher cut and halo setting so decided to marry the two

bangooroar said:totally have to agree with black jade, rounds have the largest table (like surface area on the top) whereas the asschers have much smaller since more weight comes from the bottom of the stone. in other words, a 3.0ct asscher looks decent sized whereas a 3.0ct round looks enormous.
i too love the asschers. to make your ring look bigger/more bling, i'd def recommend a halo setting.
