Just realized that the bigger one is a good $200 more expensive than the slightly smaller one. In that case maybe the smaller one has more edge over the bigger one? That’s a pretty big price difference :shocked: I can still use the smaller one fine as an everyday bag, although I would’ve preferred the bigger size, but when the bigger one costs that much more...:wtf:

I actually just received the smaller-regular size from Aspinal today. I certainly can't complain about their shipping speed as it was at my door 1.5 days after I placed the order!

@Kimbashop, the smaller-regular size Mayfair is really a small bag in my opinion, and I almost returned it because of that. But I agree that the details and leather quietly screams luxe, and is comparable in quality with the Givenchy Antigona that I have. I also agree that the squarer profile is more interesting than the rectangular bags we're used to seeing. So I'm going to just leave out the Massaccesi Flora that I use to corral my small items together. That knocks it out of the everyday bag category for me, but I rotate my bags frequently anyway so I can do without the Flora for a bit.

One thing to note is that if I were to gain any weight (I'm a US Size 16), the bag would make me look huge. But for right now, it still looks doable for my body shape.

Glad you got your bag! Which colour did you end up with? Sorry to hear that it’s small for you, imo they could really do away with the middle divider to free up more space.

I got the Green Crocodile & Evergreen Smooth Calf combo because I like the contrast of textures. If I were to go with all-crocodile version, it would have been the Navy which has a lovely depth of color. I don't mind the middle divider but you're right that it probably kills some much-needed space.

Thank you for the feedback. I wonder why they changed the size? I'm guessing that the one I will be receiving from Selfridges is the revised size; it arrives on Wednesday so I'll report back then. Interesting about the MM Flora. I use the Flora for my bags as well as it is such a great catch-all; the fact that it doesn't comfortably fit in the Mayfair tells me a lot about the space inside the bag.

Joining the Green Mayfair Club with this beauty. The quality is so impressive -- truly luxe, as everyone has stated. I ordered this from Selfridges (last one, I guess, as they took the bag off the site). They had posted an image of the longer version of this bag (10") with a description of the midi size, but at the price of a regular-sized Mayfair . So, I averaged it out and realized that what they must have meant was the new 9.2" regular Mayfair. As it turned out, that was the right guess. While I wish it were the longer version, I bought it at an amazing sale price through Selfridges (lower than Aspinal's online sale price), and the 10" size advertised on Aspinal's site is $200 more. It fits my mini iPad, which I use to present conference papers when I travel or at meetings across my campus, so I can justify it as a work bag when I don't need to carry that much.

Agreed that the middle zipper is a space hog. However, I'm partial to the mid zip designs so it doesn't bother me.

this will not be my last Aspinal bag. Nor will this be my last green bag. The croc green is

What a stunning photo and bag! You ladies take the best photos. I’m so glad you like her. Aspinal has some truly luxe pieces at unbelievable prices when you catch them on sale. Congratulations on this beauty! Dark green is one of my favourite colours and a nice neutral.

You know, I never "got" the idea of green bags before, but now I totally get it! It will coordinate with everything in my closet-- it is such a neutral shade of green; not too cool or warm. I love that this bag can go with dressy or casual clothes. I plan to use it mostly for work-related things as I'm a casual bag gal most of the time (softly structured satchels or hobos), but I see how this would look great with jeans, a t shirt, and some stylish boots.

re: photos, I give the credit to the iPhone 11's portrait mode and the indirect lighting that my dining room provides! I also use the photo editing functions to color correct. For some reason my phone read the bag is blue-green, so I had to play with the tints a bit.

Not to enable you or anything, but here’s a bigger green bag that I think you’ll like too :graucho:

Psst... it’s softly structured too

THAT is so pretty. Is that the regular size?
Yup it’s the regular size! I find the regular size to be the comfortable work bag size and can foresee her getting a lot of use once we go back to offices. The smaller one has a chain strap which I heard was extremely uncomfortable, and the nano one was just too small unless you carry the bare minimum.

Oh your picture is so good!!! I really love both but I'm partial to the AL bag.
Which bag do you consider me luxe?

I had two Polene Numero Uns (now sold) and currently have the Mayfair and I definitely think the AoL looks and feel more luxe. The two brands are going for different vibes though: Polene = Casual Chic, AoL = Formal Chic
