It's hard to recommend skincare just based on age. Some very young people already show obvious aging skin while others are older but still dealing with oily skin etc. And also on a side note, people in Korea are all about using western skincare. It's Asians here that mainly look for Korean skincare.

That I very much agree with. It's so odd isn't it. People in asia are crazy over la mer and estee lauder, but people over here all go crazy for amore pacific and sk-ii

Im using Naruko, i like their tea tree night jelly, its similar to clinique's moisture surge but for acne prone skin. my skin feels supple and soft in the morning without being oily which is great.

I have recently gotten all into Korean skincare. I've always had acne and went through 2 runs of Accutane, so for long time my skin was too sensitive to use actual cosmetics. Now at 32, it's kind of normal and stable enough for renewing my routines. I started with wanting to get a Korean BB cream since most western ones are just renamed foundations or tinted moisturizers, and I got to googling a lot of Korean cosmetic lines like that.

I then figured I'd try a snail mucin product, and ordered a Tonymoly serum that came in a pack with travel-sized toner and cream. I love it! I had had bad experienced with Western toners, they would dry my skin out and hurt. Korean toners are like a watery moisturizer, it feels refreshing and actually adds moisture instead of stripping it. I've ordered an all around recommended Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner toner and Face Shop Arsainte Radiance Cream since those Tonymoly travel sized ones are running out. I have odered products from Cosmetic-love and Ibuybeauti and both are good online stores, but I really want to try Jolse as well. Anyone ordered there?

My face is so much more moisturized, but not too much...I have a sample sized HR Powercell Youth Grafter and it overdoes it, giving me some breakouts. So far, The Tonymoly stuff have made my face smoother, softer, even-toned, eliminated my dry patches and helped with my pimples. I don't care if Koreans like to use expensive Western brands for status, I am really into their stuff!

My friend wanted to get something for her mom while she's visiting Korea.. Can someone recommend a cream or serum for age spots for someone in their late 50s? Thanks!

Agree that it's hard to recommend a brand just based on age alone (need to know skin type, concerns, sensitivity, etc.). I know the History of Whoo is wildly popular with the older generation. It uses formulation that was for royalty back in ancient times. All of the department stores carry the line, and the main Lotte Department Store in Seoul also have it on their Duty Free floor (but it can be chaotic with all of the tourists!).

I'm 22 years old and my skin is extremely prone to acne. Whenever my face sweats, the next day I will see tiny little pimples forming in that exact area. Therefore, I use Cetaphil for Oily skin, and although it does help prevent breakouts, it's very drying. I've started to see fine lines on my forehead and elsewhere on my face!!

What should I do that will be a good balance between keeping the pimples away but not prematurely aging my skin?

I just discovered Naruko after my cousin introduced the brand to me! She was generous and gave me a full size of the tea tree night tree jelly along with the narcissus night gelly, eye cream, and fundamental serum. I also bought a box of the Taiwan magnolia sheet mask. So far I really like the products!

I have tried a few higher end brands of Asian skincare products. I started out with Sulwhasoo and loved it then added The History of Whoo which is also fantastic. I like to try new things. So I then bought SKII products and they seemed to be perfect but are expensive and yet I have really good results with their products. I love the SKII masks. Along with the SKII I have now added SU:M 37 and am very happy with this line. I especially like their essence which I can compare to the one by SKII and their bubble detox mask which I also use on my hands and my teens use this on their face too and you can see results with it. I still use SKII cleansing oil and then a foaming cleanser to double cleanse my face which is popular in Asia. I added CURE peeling cleanser which you apply to your face let sit then rub off but feel many others are just as good. I have a few different brands of this and you can feel results in one use. The SU:M 37 rose cleansing stick is now my favorite. I just used up my SKII cleansing cream and figured I would try something different. one of the best things I feel has made a difference is also using linen washcloths on my face. I make my own by buying the large linen spa face towels from a beauty and spa supply store.
I have other toners/essences that are a dupe for SKII from Missha and Tonymoly which work well. I think the main advantage of me using Asian skincare products is the multi use of the skin products in using 5-7 products day and night. It is more about taking care of your skin than makeup because good skin does not need much makeup.
I have tried tons of BB creams and liked most of them but finding the perfect color can take time. I used to use Skin 79 but then switched to Chanel but once my daughter tried it I gave it to her because she loved it. So I then researched CC creams and got a few samples. I ended up buying full size ones by Magis Lene CC Brilliant Gold CC Cream and O HUI CC cream color control cream SPF 28. These are the only two makeup products I use on my skin. No powder or blush on top of it. I do use eye makeup.
I think Asian products are more gentle on my mature skin. They work for me and I have received many compliments on my skin and have no wrinkles.
I think with any skincare it is just a journey to find what is right for you. I realized that taking a few steps with different products made a difference in my skin versus just washing and applying a moisturizer but that does not mean others need to do this. I now have my sister hooked on Asian skincare and she uses the multi step products and ditched all her makeup for just a BB cream. While it may take me 15 minutes to do all the steps I find it relaxing but many others will not do it. I have given sample kits to friends and explained the steps of products and they say they will never spend the time doing this.
I buy many samples of the products from Ebay and you can get the same amount of a product in sample size way cheaper. If I love the product and want a bottle of it I will then buy it but feel the sample sizes are easy to travel with and easy to use because you only use enough product for one time application.

Bumping this thread because I'm going to Korea in a couple weeks!

I was hoping that if any of you ladies are situated in Korea, or are in the know about Korean cosmetics, if you could let me know what products (skincare and/or cosmetics) are popular right now. I know cushion foundations are currently very popular & the Hera UV Mist Cushion is on my wishlist. Other than that and sheet masks, I don't really have anything else on my list.

I'm open to all suggestions, but I'm not looking to spend an absorbent amount of money (so no History of Whoo, Sulwasoo, or similarly priced brands). Would also like to hear your stories about shopping in the Duty Free departments if any (I've actually read a couple horror stories about the SAs sending defective products to the airport - eek!).

If you fly Korean air get the Hera uv mist on the plane! You get two for the price of 1.5

That's a great deal!! But I'm flying Singapore Airlines  Perhaps they might have the same or a similar deal though! Do you have it yourself? If so, how do you like it?

The Hera mist is awesome :) it's super light in texture!

I don't really have any skin flaws I need to cover so I don't use it much however I do like it a lot!

Great!! I like foundations that don't feel or look heavy on the skin. Definitely looking forward to checking it out when I go! Thanks for the info again!
