Hi Hiromi,
I would agree with you that goretex does look natural. I had a full nasal reconstruction done about a year ago but I am looking to redo the tip. Another friend of mine went to the same doctor but did not want to pay extra to use goretex and used silicone instead. She had the same problem as you. At first it looked natural but after a year the shape started to change.

I've consulted with Dr. Chuang from Wish Clinic and he suggested for me to have a redo done with goretex. I've consulted with Oz Clinic as well and I sent my picture to BK Clinic but I have yet to hear back from them. I'm still debating on where to go for surgery. Shimmian Manila (www.shimmianmanila) is affiliated with Shimmian Medical Center which is where the famous Dr. Jung's Rhinoplasty Clinic is located (http://www.nose.co.kr/).

Has anyone had their surgeries done at Shimmian Manila? I am of Filipino decent so it's easier for me to travel to the Philippines. The cost is less than half as other places but since this is my second surgery I want to make sure it's done right.

I may go to Seoul Korea but I'm scared I may have a hard time flying on my own. If anyone has gone to Oz Clinic or BK Clinic please give me your insight if you've had to travel abroad from the U.S. to Korea. Thank you.

Ms. Jezabel

Hey Jezabel,

So far havent heard of anyone who went to Phillippines yet. Mostly Thailand, Korea, Taiwan.... Malaysia.. Singapore etc.. for Asia countries.

Hey Hiromi,

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Can you tell us alittle more about Dr Tseng, and why you chose him? He sounds quite good.. haha.

Also what did Dr Chaung say about your L-implant? Because i know he still performs L-implants alot. I'm going to him soon and have to choose between L or I.

Thanks, and good luck in ur recovery.. i'm glad u finally have peace of mind now. Can't inmagine how scary it is knowing theres something wrong with the implant in ur nose.

Ahhhhh Jes you are going in September right?
Preparation going smoothly?

Have you booked your appointment with him yet?
I am so excited for you.:yahoo:

keropijennifer,

There is no nasal bone in the tip area of your nose, natural noses have only nasal cartilage at the tip.. This is why it is better to do your bridge and tip separately because it follows the natural anatomy of your nose. The goretex implant stops right before the area where the tip begins. My doctor used septal cartilage to hold up the tip and then he placed ear cartilage on top of that.. its kind of hard to explain but imagine an umbrella with the septal cartilage as the handle part and then the ear cartilage on top.. i hope that makes sense?

Shoegirl,

Dr.Chuang said that my L implant was perhaps placed a little too shallow..meaning under the skin rather than under the nasal bone. I told him that I felt my nose was unnatural looking cause it stuck out very straight and shiny.. he suggested that I use goretex since i didn't like how silicone has that unnatural shine under certain lights.. he also showed me pictures of noses that he had done with goretex. In the end I chose to go with Dr.Tseng because I felt that he could really understand what i wanted. Not only does he specialize in rhino, but there were lots of ppl in taiwanese forums who had gone to him and were very happy.. Also, I think each doctor has their own "style" of nose.. and so it really comes down to what style you prefer more.. for example I think dr.chuang's noses look more straight.. and dr.tseng's noses have more of a curve and he also likes to emphasize the tip making them a little more upturned if that makes sense.. I also felt that dr.tseng was a really responsible doctor and i felt confident in him.. last but not least, i went for two consultations and everytime i went people going in and out had beautiful noses.. one of the nurses there had her nose fixed by dr.tseng(she had an L implant before like me) and its been a year since her surgery and her nose tip felt really soft!! like a real nose.. she could move it around as she wished and her nose looked super super real.. so in the end im really happy with my decision.

I know that there are alot of people who do well with L implants, but I think in general it looks a bit more natural when you do your nose and tip separately cause the L implant can only create a 90 degree nose tip.. it is easier to spot someone with an L than an I if that makes sense.. but in the end it is really up to you and what you're more comfortable with.. I'm sure dr.chuang can do a great job with either one.

When you saw the pictures of the goretex cases, how were they? Not your kind?

Did you see any patients when you went for his consultations?

keenose, welcome back. where have you been? we missed you here. how did you get your passport ready? I called the Chinese Embassy, but it just kept ringing and nobody or machine answered the phone. it's just so weird. I want to go to Taiwan for sure since they all speak Chinese there. guess what, I decided to get a job soon even though I'm going to school the same time. it's tough, but I will do it. now I'm considering doing more surgeries than just nose job. I want to do the cheek bone shaving and the jaw too. now I have a better idea why my nono doctor didn't want to give me a more pointed nose. it won't fit my face. he is really a professional doctor, who doesn't just do more surgeries for you for money. he concerns more. unfortunately he doesn't do bone shaving. so I have to go to other doctors for it. the way I look in the mirror and in the pictures are different.I look lots of pictures last night, hanging out with my friends. in the pictures, I can have a better idea how I really look. my face does look really huge and round. and imaging I had a high nose and a pointed nose tip, I would look horrible. I would look like a watermelon with a stick stuck in it. lol. yeah, bone shaving first then nose job. I wonder if Dr. Chuang can do both bone shavings and the nose job together. will that be too difficult for him? so, you are staying in the hotel over there, keenose? aren't you from Taiwan originally? I'm wondering if there is a cheap hotel near by the clinics.

Hi shoe girl,

I had an I shaped goretex implant and cartilage on the tip. It looks really natural but since my nose was really really super flat to begin with, my tip is a bit short so I'm looking to get a revision for tiplasty. Everyone thinks I'm crazy for wanting to change it but I want the curve Hiromi was talking about and not the right angle triangle look. Although my nose doesn't look like that, I want it to be more like a curve and then a slight bump on the tip.

Jez

Where are you planning to go for revision?

Hey guys, I'm back! Wow, so many new posts!!

Nini - Glad you got rid of your ex-bf, that sounds pretty scary!

Masked - I'm sure your eyes will turn out fine. Trust me when I say that time heals.

Everyone else that got recent surgeries - Good luck with the healing.

As for me, remember that double crease I had on my right eye? Well, it has kinda disappeared last week. When I wake up in the morning though it's still there but disappears after a few hours :wlae:

My eyes have deswelled alot! Now my bf thinks that I rushed into things & shouldn't go to Korea lol.

Well I think I still want a more tapered crease & definitely want my epi done & also my nosejob so still gonna go. Dr. Kim has called me on the phone to confirm my reservation & he was very nice & sent a followup email to me as well.

My eyes are definitely a medium parallel size right now but more on the medium large size still. I take so long to heal. My right eye crease feels a bit bumpier probably because it got worked on twice & I'm thinking maybe if I just waited, the double crease might of disappeared on it's own. Oh well.

I still have this tight feeling on my eyes especially if I try to look up or open really wide, but it's not nearly as bad as before. Hopefully it goes away soon. :p

Hey Kim,

Welcome back! haha

How long has it been again? For your eyelid...:p

kimosa, where have you been? haven't heard from you in a long time.I went to get my eyes checked up and the doctor told me there was still a lot of deswelling to do that I needed to go back to him in another two months. he also does alar plasty, and I asked him for it,he told me I wouldn't look good having my tip smaller.see, remember he is called the "nono" doctor?he can definitely make my nose higher and the tip more pointed, but he is not willing to do so.kimosa, sorry I don't think I can go to Korea in December.first it's the language, second,I haven't travelled to any country by myself.I'm a little not sure what to do.plus, I don't want my parents to know about it.they think they already paid enough for all my surgeries.I might go to Taiwan at least since people there also speak Chinese.

heheh come this October!!! hahah

Hi all,

My eyebrows are doing fine. Some are starting to fall out now, which is part of the natural process I believe. I think they will fully regrow within 4-6 weeks or something like that. I'll keep you posted. Also, since you are considering doing eyebrows, I'd recommend you to do it in Asia, and not at a doctor close to you since you are in the US. From what I hear, any type of hair transplant in the US is very expensive compared to Asia. The results may not be any better either.

Do they look natural already? I mean can you go out and meet people?

Hey hiromi,

I appreciate everything you told me, and i really do like dr. tseng's pictures on his site. My only concern is that some of his nose tips are alittle round, kind of like a door knob.. haha. Is that what you mean about the curve that makes noses more natural? I would prefer the nose tip to be alittle more sharp.

Same thoughts exactly!

Shoegirl,

Dr.Tseng does like to make the nose tip a little bit rounder, and what he told me is that noses should have a slight 2mm rise at the tip so they are not completely straight.. this way they are more natural looking. But also keep in mind that most of those after pics are taken 3 months post-op.. the tip of the nose takes the longest to deswell and heal. It takes at least 6 months for your nose tip to become soft.. so I am sure that they will get less "round" looking as time goes by. I'm sure that he is capable of making sharp noses.. I've seen some at his clinic.. but of course they're not going to be as sharp as an L implant but you have the risk of extrusion when u make them that sharp. When I had my L implant my nose became SUPER SUPER sharp after about 2 years.. i remember someone took a picture of me from the side one time and I was seriously shocked by how sharp it had gotten.. it looked like a right angle from the side..no joke lol. So now I kind of have a fear of sharp noses lol.. i requested dr.tseng to make my tip round lol.. when are you planning on coming to taiwan?

hehe under "mian xiang" its better to have round noses.. haha more FORTUNE.

Hey heromi,

I'm planning on going next month..lol so nervous. I was set on going to Dr Chaung, but in the last few days ive heard so much about Dr tseng... the girl im going with really wants to go to him too. I just want a doctor that is able to give me the nose i want (ofcourse being realistic) I'm just afraid that dr tseng only does round-ish noses, also with Dr Chaung i find his noses to look similar. Hope whoever i go to will listen to my tastes and give me something similar to that.

But im glad ur happy with ur decision, and the nurse with the soft nose sounds so nice.. haha. I was worried about having a hard, numb nose tip afterwards.

Hmmm I guess the only way is to go for consultation and have a feel of these 2 doctors and see which one you feel more comfortable with!

I went out together with my friends. they all lavishly gave me compliment about the way I look. they said I looked sexy that I changed a lot, but they couldn't tell why they thought I changed so much.lol. yeah, I did look good tonight. my eyes look good after the surgery.I'm considering bone shaving now, since the pictures I took tonight show I have a big round face.but it doesn't look that round when staring at myself in the mirror.how do you eat after bone shaving?who is famous for it?

Wow thats cool.. you look better without being too obvious.

I hope I can acheive that too.

On bone shaving, you need to be on soft diet for at least 1 month or till the bone fixation is stabilized.
