Dear Artsy owners,
After lusting for an Artsy in Monogram for a long time, I finally made the desicion to buy one in september 2014. I was familiar with all the Artsy problems out there with cracking of canvas, cracking of vachetta handle and the brake in period. But, I gave the new Artsy a chance simply because I think it's the most beautiful bag I know. I'm embarrassed to say that I did not use her because of terrible weather and because of the white handle, I wanted to save her for spring. I did take her out of the dustbag from time to time, just to admire the bag. And every time I saw dustlike particles in the corners and where the rings touch the canvas. After having her for four months, it had evolved and was quite visible also all the way along the opening of the bag. It's like a sort of peeling of the coating on the canvas. I will attache pictures. LV took it back in January 2015 and said I could get a new one or a credit note. I wanted to give the Artsy in Monogram a new chance (already have it in Empreinte as well), but I had to wait for a new delivery. I got a new one this month, and of all the three I looked at, there was a tendency of dust on the corners, so I took another one with me home. Now, after two weeks my new Artsy has the same tendency...

Therefore:
Are you a owner of an Artsy Monogram made in 2014/2015 and have the same problem? I would really appreciate to see some close up picture of corners of newly made Artsy's. That would help me a lot to decide if I shold return it...

Picture of my old Artsy returned, and the new shows the same signs:

Did you try just wiping it off? Baby wipes or Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work really well for cleaning white marks off of the canvas.

Thank you so much for your reply! I don't think this is how it is supposed to be, so I don't think I dare to do that ;) You say that erasers work well for cleaning white marks off the canvas. Do you say this is normal having white marks on canvas? I have many canvas bags, but have never experienced this before :wondering:

Do NOT use magic eraser!! That would be the worst thing you could do to the canvas..
This looks like peeling.. I would return that is not normal.

Thank you so much for your reply! I will for sure not try to fix this myself, that's a job for LV I think ;) I have an agreement with my SA to bring it back next week. But I would really like to know if it will be possible to get a newly made Artsy with no peeling...

My Artsy is from 2010. So I can't help you on the newly made ones.. Sorry. Good luck!

Why do you not recommend using a Magic Eraser?

EDIT: Nevermind... Just read through some other threads... DO NOT USE MAGIC ERASER!!! I guess i'm lucky I didn't ruin any of my bags...

To clean white marks off of the canvas, try scrubbing with just a normal, damp cloth or baby wipes. I've heard baby wipes work wonders, but I've only tried using Magic Erasers... I'm going to switch to baby wipes from now on...

I can't comment on the peeling, as I have not noticed it on any of my bags, but FWIW, I have had great success with a Magic Eraser on the canvas. Just dampen and gently wipe, don't scrub - and be forewarned that if the mark is on a quatrefoil, it WILL remove some of the pattern.

See my Beverly in the rescue thread....all done with a ME and baby wipes :smile1:.

I have experienced this exact same peeling LV has replaced my bag twice.. Both bags were from 2015.

Thank you so much for your reply, it means a lot to me. My first bag was from may 2014, my second from week 4 2015. I've just returned my second one today and don't know if I'm giving it a new chance.

Are you having a third Artsy, or did you exchange it for something else?

This does not look like marks, It looks like blisters..or peeling. Take it back. This is unacceptable for this amount of money!!!

That definitely looks like peeling of the protective coating they put on top of the canvas. If it happens again, I would buy a pre-loved one if you really want the bag. As for other white marks (not peeling) I've had great luck with wiping the canvas with a small amount of diluted dish liquid and water. I use a soft towel and pat gently. I try to use baby wipes first though. :)
