LailaT has bought from them, hopefully she will chime in. Registering happens by fax, I checked that out when I visited the auction house in January.

Thanks, Polaremil! I will definitely look into this. Many of the prices (and the pieces) look great, so even with premiums and shipping, it might not be too bad!

glad you found that old thread, cuz there was lots of discussion there.
i went to Paris and picked up my items in person (artcurial will hold onto them, and tax refund was good for up to 3 months after purchase date, so plan accordingly!)
condition of items was hard to determine in advance. only because of an error they made on one item was i able to speak via phone with a person at the auction house who gave me detailed info. -- that was on an enamel bangle, which i paid 90 euros for + fees. it turned out to be the best deal. i didn't like the CDC ostrich on me, so fortunately a tPFer who had wanted it bought it from me and then off it was back across the Atlantic! the scarf i got didn't sing to me, so i gave it to my sister who loved it. so out of 3 things, i have the bangle, and am happy with it. but i would really mostly recommend the auction if you could be there in person to view the items before bidding.
would anyone like to send me as a proxy? i would just require a business or first class plane ticket -- i'll cover my hotel ;)
p.s. mods, i hope it's obvious that I AM JOKING WITH THAT LAST SOLICITATION!
