Hmmm...I think Id need to see it actually on you before I decide whether I personally like it or not but if you like it, keep it. Alot of times, Ill buy something and my sisters will be like WTH is that but if I like it, I dont care. Enjoy!
I love art deco pieces and this one is great! The price sounds good too. If you love it, which it sounds like you do, then definitely keep it! Everyone's personal style is different and what you love is obviously not what your sister and mother love. Personally, I adore antique and art deco jewelry so I love this. 
i think its very pretty, but i also love art deco pieces! if its what makes you happy then keep it 
It's a keeper in my book, but as others have said, it's all about whether YOU think you'll love it for a long time to come!
Thanks for all your help everyone! I've been looking online this weekend and I think I got a very fair price for what it is (and did I mention I love it irrespective of that? 
). I saw a similar art deco ring with the same carats for $2500.
I'm still curious to see what the diamond district has to offer, but I guess I have some time to look around.
Here is the ring on my finger - for some reason it looks like there's an uneven gap between the diamonds and the top motif but I can't really tell in person.

My mom and I went through a lot of her jewelry last night. She has a lot of yellow gold and is probably just biased. My grandmother had nothing to pass down to her 3 daughters and I've always been nostalgic for an heirloom like this that I never had. Doesn't make sense but that's how these things go I guess!

lubird- in the same way, i love art deco...maybe its because I never had any jewellery passed down to me that I love art deco pieces? I also try to buy jewellery of quality so that I can one day pass it down when I have a family.
