They always insisted the 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' wasn't about, well you know .....

'With tangerine trees and marmalade skies.'

'Where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies.'

'Cellophane flowers of yellow and green, towering over your head'

I mean, uh, c'mon ........

As a kid you hardly understand the meaning behind certain lyrics anyways, no? I think many generations have grown up to later find out what a song was really about, I don't think it's harmful.

Heck, Sesame Street is full of hidden dirty jokes!

Pop radio plays anything catchy ad popular. The people actually buying her music (her demographic) I would say are pretty young. 13-17ish would be my guess. And yeah... I also don't know what to make of this girl. Nothing works IMO.

Kids don't understand those kinds of lyrics, and if they do understand them, well they already understand them so it doesn't really matter anymore. I kind of doubt the parents or the kids are actually thinking about the lyrics though. Those catchy songs on the radio people tend to sing along without thinking about what they're singing.

As a 90's kid, i only recently realized what the song "liquid dreams" was actually about. I remember singing along to that song all the time, i cant believe my parents let me listen to it lol!

Dunno. I feel like when I was younger, lyrics used to be far less obvious and you had to understand the context of the entire statement. Now, it's just in your face and they're not as subliminal. I've encountered a many of young teens / preteens who understand fully what these songs mean. Hell they're sexting by the time they're 13-14...it's real out there y'all. lol

I saw her perform one time, I think it was on America's Got Talent. I never watch that show but happened to be flipping past and she was starting to perform. I've never seen a worse performance. The singing was out of tune and her whole routine was so lackluster. I couldn't believe she was even allowed to perform. Did anyone else catch this performance? Was it a random bad show, fluke type of thing??

Animaniacs, yes. Spongebob, yes. Rocko's Modern Life, yes. Adventure Time, yes.

But don't you go and ruin Sesame Street for me!

I can't help myself - every time I see a photo of her my natural response is "Ugh".
You and me both and my 'ugh' reaction is usually accompanied by a face like this..
