I want to know everyone’s opinion about this.

Do you actually keep all of your bags and never sell them or are you someone who buys and sell when they are not used?

I used to buy and sell stuff when I don’t like them anymore but now, as I get older and that I got scammed selling bags before, I just wanted to keep all of my bags even those that I don’t use that much anymore.

I am planning to bring the ones that I don’t use that often back in my hometown so that when we go back there like twice a year, I have some varieties to choose from because there is no way that I can keep all of them in my house here in Hong Kong.

What’s everybody’s two cents about this?

For me, definitely not a keeper. I will let a handbag go once I find out it does not work for me anymore. As you have mentioned, selling handbags especially luxury ones could be a painful process. The time and money lost in this had actually deterred me from uncautious purchase in the first hand, which I believe is quite a positive result for me.

This is my current collection. I am still debating on letting the Madewell tote go.

Buy mostly preloved, sell if bored or not useful in my life. That's my bag philosophy. Right now I'm happy with what I got and not planning to purchase anything, a few bags and wallets are on their way out. If I buy something I have to sell something, no room for more bags plus my bag collection has a budget of its own. I've cut it it down with over 1,100€ within a year but I'm not feeling like I'm missing anything.

I sell or trade whatever doesn't work for me, unless it's fairly low-priced, in which case I give away or donate. But there's definitely a consistent rotation happening....I want to keep as few bags as possible and use them. I do have a few bags of sentimental or collector value that I will always keep even though I may not use them.

In time this will probably settle and I won'[t be buying much OR selling much.

One in one out usually (but I aware that currently I am one-too-many)
Anything new (or new to me) has to be better than anything I already own, or something I just need.
It's also not advisable to buy amazing museum quality bags with no practical, usable bags either, so there has to be a balance. Sometimes it's really good to have a few 'knock-around' bags.
If bags are not being used they're just ballast. Sometimes things just should just go.
Out doesn't have to mean selling, I might just donate or give away. There's only one bag I regret giving away and that was a very long time ago.

I used to keep every bag but my collection got so big that it was a pain in the butt to store them properly. I slowly let go of the bags I wasn’t using anymore, even though I loved many of them.

I still get great pleasure from my collection, in part because it’s been edited down to pieces I need and use often, rather than bags that stayed in their dustbags for months or even years at a time.

Also, dipping my toes in the world of Hermès bags has changed my relationship to the object itself. I can’t afford to buy a new H bag every month so I feel much more invested in the long-term usability and style of the bag.

I've ha both success and trouble with selling online - sometimes packages don't make it (many countries don't have an insurance option for Canada Post), other times there's a ton of flakes - people that feign interest, only to disappear when I reply.

For the above reasons I'm more inclined to sell my contemporary bags than my higher end stuff to avoid the headaches if it does go wrong. Going through this kind of frustration has really curbed the amount of bags I purchase now, but at least I have a better sense of what I like/will work for me.

I just sent five bags to my aunts in Canada and intend to send three more. They are all premiere but I haven’t used them in a while so I feel much better sending them to the other ladies in my family. I might sell or consign one or two bags. I feel like I have far too many bags and I need to cut down the number.
