are you comfortable with the shoulder tote being open?

I personally never use bags that don't zip up at the top, because I live in a major city and commute on public transport where the risk of theft and pickpocketing is huge (especially if you're carrying a nice handbag!). If I lived somewhere else, or if I used my car instead of the subway to get around, I might feel differently. It's all about what you're comfortable with. :)

I have two Coach handbags that don't close on top- the multi stripe shoulder and my large studded hobo with the pink suede. Both fit nicely under the arm that if someone was trying to get into it they would have to move your arm first.

The only issue I have with it is if it falls, then some of your stuff falls out. Not a biggie, because that doesn't happen a lot...but, that's my only issue.

Other than that they are great bags!

I wasn't sure how I would feel with an open top shoulder tote. I really like my signature stripe shoulder because mine folds over on itself at the top when it slouches down. I understand what you are saying though.

I haven't had any problems with mine.

My Mom went through this when she got her first Coach bag. Had to have something with a zipper. Well you know what? After all that, she NEVER zips the bag!

I am on the fence, I have both dogleash closure and flaps/zips. I am using the latter more but I really don't pay attention to my bag with the dogleash and so far no grabs

I do take the bus to work and school

And whenever I can I put a sweater or jacket on top. That I'd wear later on when it gets cold

I am going to get another dogleash closure bag either tmr or next week when I work again w/$!

When I use my bag that is open I get so used to being able to get in and out so easily that when I use a zip then a flap close it is so cumbersome to get to my things. I love th style of the bags that have the big strap over the zipper and it latches, but It would drive me nuts to have to unlatch and then have to unzip my bag.
