i try my hardest never to pay for full price of my bags.... so when I get tons of discount, I am just too happy but yes, I feel bad after buying a bag n then several weeks or a month later, it is selling for less..

That's why it's called an "early adopter tax," at least in th tech world. You pay more to have it first. The followers pay less, but do we really want to be followers?

I struggle with this very issue, not just with bags, but shoes and clothes as well. Here's how I think of it: when I love something, and I have to have it, I buy it! If it screams my name, then it's meant to be. I place a lot of value on having beautiful, unique things, and I pay top dollar sometimes to be able to enjoy them right away. Even if it's early in the season, who cares, I will get to enjoy it for more weeks/months that the people who wait until it goes on sale. So I will be ahead of the game. A trendsetter, even!

Plus, I hate it when I wait for an item to go on sale, then go back to the store only to find out it's gone forever. If I really like something, I just go for it because rueing over something fabulous I didn't buy feels worse than regretting a purchase I ended up not liking. Sometimes, though, I've had incredible luck missing the chance to buy something, then finding it again at a consignment or seconds store. Now, THAT is fate.

I'm the same way. I would rather buy it when I see it, I can't just sit around and wait for something to go on sale because if it sold out before it went on sale and I would miss out. That is definatly something I really appreciate about LV though, you never have to worry about their stuff going on sale. You just have to worry about getting it before they put up their prices again. :amuse:

Well if its something you are coveting I wouldnt wait either. But lately nothing has been thrilling me so much I cant wait and take the chance. I guess the right bag hasnt found me yet, or at least the right bag full price! :)

That is very true. When I'm at a store and I see something, I definitely want it that instant! Maybe that's why, at least for clothes, I don't mind them being on sale or not.

During the recent NM sale, I saw about 4 of the latest shoes I bought on sale. So that was just weird. Especially since 2 of them I had bought the week before!

Ummmmm anyhow. For purses, I don't mind them being on sale.

Yes...I feel the same way as most of you.... I'll get mad if something that I bought went on sale (but I'll get over it)...... but then again if I really like something, I wouldn't mind paying full price or even double if the item is impossible to find.... Yup, I am a sucker...but what the hell if I love it, I'll pay for it :D

Never had that luck!..soo rare. In my experience, I can almost say, I've never seen a bag that I've bought go on sale, and if it did...it's either an unpopular color, smaller version or damaged! Same thing with shoes and clothes, never have the luck! And, if I ever did find one that went on sale, I have my ways of getting that discount...eventually!:graucho: I refuse to be a sucker!

Me too! My philosophy is that eventually everything will go on sale, if I wait around long enough. I can't pay retail price anymore for clothing, shoes, bags, laundry detergent, etc. because I know that if I pay full retail at LV, there's probably an equally gorgeous YSL, Chanel, Bottega, whatever waiting for me someplace else on sale. I love purses, but giving up a bag isn't going to cost me anything; in fact, my wallet will probably feel better, and I won't have to deal with see-my-purse-at-the-Gucci-presale guilt. But that's JMO

I hate that when I buy something -- clothing especially -- and it goes on sale a few weeks later. I wouldn't mind it if I had actually worn the item, but it usually is something that has been unworn in my closet. This is why I am trying not to buy something unless I am going to wear it very soon. (This is my shopping philosophy for high street type clothing. For designer that I must have, the good stuff goes fast ... so SPLURGE!)

The purses I tend to buy aren't around during the sale. Sometimes I like sale, but it depends where the sale is, geographically speaking.. I've found a lot of great sales at stores where the shoppers are usually very conservative or tend to stick to one brand... so the funky fab bags are the ones that usually go on sale. My bro's girlfriend works for Neimans, so I guess, I can get any bag I want for a discount if I really wanted to. But, he lives 3000 miles away from me and i feel the time it takes for me to call him and make arrangements, and to actually get the purse equals the discount itself so i don't bother unless I'm at Neimans getting the discount right there. . I'm more of an instant gratification kind of chic, if I want a bag, I kinda want it now... not later...

I really hate it when it comes to clothes... but since I have such a fab SA, he gives me the price adjustment. Since I usually buy clothes a season ahead... i.e. fall/winter in july or august, i leave them all at will call, no need to bring it w/ me since I'm not wearing it. If they go on sale when I pick them up, i get the adjustment because they're obviously still at the store.

I disagree that people didn't feel it was worth it to pay retail for the Cambon line. Just because certain colors & a few styles went on sale doesn't de-value the whole Cambon line. I think it depends on where you live and what went on sale. I bought my Cambon tote last year in Vegas full retail. I never saw the black w/patent black CC's in the Bay Area. When I was in SF on Thursday the SA said she did have them but she was sold out and they sell out as fast as they come in.
Also, Sucker is kinda a harsh word. I think it is just more frustrating because you don't really know when & what will go on sale. I have to say I would be mad if I just paid full retail and then it went on sale for anything, not just a handbag.
