Yes. It feels like they are playing the Hermes game……
Literally! And I'm not going to play the Hermes game with any company. I like some Hermes items but I could NEVER lick the boot of a sales associate for a bag, that is not a luxury experience, that is being treated like dirt by a company and being given scraps like you're a slave or something

Me too. I just stopped paying attention to my SA and did my own thing if I wanted something. It just sucks because I adore VCA, they are the only high-end jewellery brand which I find to have creativity in their craftsmanship and has feminine designs.
I've found the online boutique (over the phone) to be useful, albeit slow with contacting physical boutiques.
I find luxury to be dead; in my opinion, for something to be luxury, the experience needs to be high quality too. For the most part, I've had luxurious experiences at VCA. Sometimes they take you to the backroom if you're doing a bigger purchase, they may give you a book and other free gifts with your purchase which is nice. But, the consistency isn't there as I've had bad experiences with specific stores.
At LV, Dior, Tiffany, etc. I've had bad experiences with RUDE SAs or I've overheard them. A woman at LV told me "well, if you have the money in your bank account, why don't you just get it?" when I was trying on the pink Capucines bag, which is absolutely insane. At Dior, I've overheard an SA speaking to a non-english customer and she said "why don't we see if your card swipes?", just absolutely disgusting. They are so desperate for sales that it comes off as entitled, and they're just so rude about it. Luxury is just dead, it's deceased
Hahaha you'e totally hit the nail on the head! Agree with you; luxury is dead. I had a shortlived good first experience with VCA where the SA showered me with "surprises" .. delivered coffee packages to my place, gave me macarons etc. After the SA left VCA, i ended up with an SA who is overwhelmed with sales. Although i spent more with him than my previous SA( becos i was then just entering into VCA realm), I felt so neglected.. like i was chasing for the sales and not the other way around.

Which started to feel very bizarre to me... i spent so much more but got no love from him (he prob got very high spending clientale alrdy). I mean, luxury should apply to all consistently and not based on which tier of clients one belongs to? Alright, thats a fantasy/idealistic world.
,
Like you, VCA was a brand i was willing to shell out 5 figure per item for due to the craftmanship and quality. However it is becoming so mainstream that i am not hankering after any more pieces.. not at the current prices and overall experience. Anyways, they have no shortage of customers though but i am just not willing to contribute to their share price anymore. I will enjoy what I have, and occassionally buy what i really really fancy. Or support mid-tier brands who are putting out good quality fine jewelry at a fraction of the price.

Me too. My SA is fake nice. He will act fake and be snarky, which is so weird to me! One time, he made a comment about how a man visiting the store was dressed badly. Like, why does it matter? Then, he just became weirder towards me and didn’t want to transfer items from other stores for me and would give the excuse of “I’ll try” when I’ve never had that issue with the SA which replaced him whilst he was gone!

VCA also is the only brand I’d spend 5 figures on jewelry too. When I got my Perlee Clover bracelet, it resembled a large milestone in my life and I wouldn’t have purchased something that expensive from any other company because the designs are so masculine. I’ve also decided to enjoy what I have, I may get another piece sometime in the future but I’m never spending over 5 figures on a piece of jewelry or any luxury item (besides a car) just to expensive a non-luxury experience. My rule right now is: no more than 10,000 on a piece of jewelry (and they have to last a lifetime), no more than 4000 on a bag, no more than 2000 on leather boots, no more than 1500 on other shoes (and they have to be worth the money and last more than 5 years).

Yes, the fake nice-ness when you're there.. although to be fair, i havent heard my SA badmouth any other clients. it's just that he is rather lukewarm and i feel like i'm in that r/s where i love the man more than he loves me. lol. Your SA sounds really quite awful though. Mine is lukewarm but to give him credit, he did somehow helped me to source for my Alhambra pave onyx bracelet from another country, no less (while the whole time saying it is very hard to find, very little stock blarblar).

To the point, i am now wondering why are we paying full price for a non-existence luxury experience when we can just buy pre-loved and save some money? Only issue is the authenticity worries but nowadays, there are such big, trusted preloved companies or sellers to consider.

I've not thought about putting a number / rule to my spending, that's interesting.. i probably weight the item, brand, what it is made of, how much wear i'll get out of it against the price to gauge if it's worth buying. My 'rule' has dropped a lot for bags nowadays. As for jewelry.. it depends on how much wear i'll get and the longevity. Although i've recently fallen back in love with silver pieces, which i know is sooo not worth it (think Tiffany Hardware) but i just love the design too much. Ugh. I must say though, Tiffany's service (At least where i 'm at) is much better than VCA's.

I wanted to get preloved VCA until TheRealReal irritated me and blocked my account for misspelling my name which is literally insane. I've found that the only luxurious experience is ordering from the online boutique or from a far away boutique. The packaging for deliveries is so beautiful and makes me excited, and I don’t have to deal with a fake SA. But, it shouldn’t be that way…

With luxury bags, though, I’m getting preloved only. I want an LV capucines bag and the price halves once it’s out of the store.

What? Thats so silly of realreal. Lol. What about others? I agree though, that anticipation of an online delivery and the packaging is divine! However, for a 5 figure item, my heart cannot take waiting! Haha. But yea, the terrible CS really makes it daunting...... VCA is just lucky their items are so popular and in demand. At the moment, i am leaving it to fate. If something is meant for me, it will find me!

I dont even have much desire for luxury bags anymore.. i only kept a few that are really practical and useful for me. Im even enjoying the Loewe basket bag. Even though its basically 1K for straw.. *bang wall* but i lovr the design and the look of it and it fits my essentials more than I thought..

I am the same! I believe that if something is meant to be mine, it’ll come in time. And, usually it’s for the best because what you wanted can change to something else.

I don’t have desire for luxury bags too, I find it so… “look at me, I have a designer bag and you don’t”, and after seeing people’s actions change after owning a designer bag, I kind of just resent them. I have a very very small designer bag collection but they get used daily. Literally like 2 bags. Just a smaller flap bag and a tote.

Its so true.. after 1 year or so, i have come to love shiny mirrored finishes- and dont mind mixing silver with white gold pieces etc.

Recently, i also felt a piece call out to me... i had 0 intention of buying anything actually, but bam... suddenly i cant get it out of my head. So i pulled the trigger. ♡ LOL

This sounds crazy, but i feel embarrased to be carrying a big Chanel logo bag. I mean just anything with Chanel logo. I guess i also got tired of seeing it on social media.

But jewellery is so different.. haha

Omg same. Bags are one thing, but jewelry is so special. I feel that it’s just like “it’s expensive but it’ll last a lifetime” vibes, and I like that so much more than a LV bag where the quality is so bad, or even Chanel with the recent quality issues. I feel that jewelry prices are more justified… maybe that’s just me though

We all value different things in life. Just because other people's value is not the same as mine doesn't mean they are better or lesser.

I don't think all of the people who use luxury items be it cars, jewellery, bags or clothes are trying to show off. There are people who show off of course but some really admire the quality plus those who can afford it see it as a daily normal expense, we normal people see them as luxury items but they don't.

My colleagues who use Hermes constance bag just turn the H logo closure of the bag towards herself instead of showing it. I do feel how it's uncomfortable for her when she's wearing the bag. Just would like her to know that there's nothing wrong using Hermes bags and she should be proud and enjoy all her Hermes bags.

If you always spend time resenting people's luxury bags, better save your energy bettering your life. And count your blessings for life is more than just bags or any other luxury items.

Enjoy your day!

I’d say that: those who aren’t humble and own designer items are the issue. People become so snobby after owning a designer hand bag, I don’t care about what they own or not, but I do care about how they treat people. And, specific people are just horrible. For example, at a Saint Laurent store, the employee was talking about how she went to Paris to get a Kelly bag, and after I said “I could never”, she became so rude, like I was a peasant or something

I haven't had a lot of unpleasant experience in luxury stores so I can't comment. I have visited different stores in different luxury brands and most of the SAs are quite polite.
Even if I was just looking and trying on things, I never heard anything unpleasant that had been directed towards me. Without any purchase, they were still nice and never said anything that made me feel uneasy nor pushed a sale to me. We usually exchange contact and this allows me to ask for stock or items if I make my decision to purchase. Moreover, I was not wearing anything that is associated with luxury items. I guess SAs can sense whether a customer is self conscious or not. Maybe this has something to do how they will treat potential customers but I am not sure.

As for the shortage of stock, I don't feel that vca is trying to go to the Hermes route. It might take some time to get some items but I don't feel that they are trying to make me pre-spend. I have some other items on my list so if they don't have my item in stock, I just move on or try to request another item on my wish list. I never feel that the shortage of stock is due to my unworthiness, because my worthiness is not decided or controlled by them.

If you are not happy with an SA, you can always change your SA. Or you can purchase it online or when you travel.

I noticed a stock change/behavior change probably within the past 8 months of shopping at the same store. I am by no means a VIP client or one who makes regular purchases, but a year ago I was able to order most anything/put down a deposit for almost any items. About 4 months ago, my SA told me now getting any non-pave magic sized jewelry was like "playing the birkin or kelly game". This frustrated me more than having no sell-able stock in store.
