I have always been a white gold person.. That's why I've always worn silver watches.. but lately.. I'm starting to dig yellow gold... so I just got an 18K yellow gold cartier roadster.. It's so beautiful IMO.. but I'm still too scared to wear it in public... it's kinda flashy.. since it has interchangeable straps.. I usually wear the leather ones when I'm in public..

^ beautiful watch i love the leather band. I think it looks nicer/classier with the leather band.

Thanks ilvoelv.. I like the leather band too.. but it doesn't match with everything.. I have another leather band in brown but it's kinda hard to change the leather one with another.. so the gold bracelet matches with everything..

Gold watches are a classic! It all depends on what you like!!! I don't really think that there's a "phase", gold watches have always been around - even before celebrities started wearing the big gold watches!

It seems to be quite popular as I've spotted Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Zoe, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox all wearing gold watches on a regular basis.

I have a medly of different ones from an old 14k Michael Anthony gold bracelet watch from the 80's to an Invicta Rose Gold Lupah, to a Michelle white ceremic watch, I truly love both and depedning on the occasion and outfit~that's what I go to. My favourite though is a Phillip Stien Teslar in stainless with an ivory leather band.

But I do agree that yg as a whole is making a bit of a comeback in certain things. It's fun to have options!

That's the same dilemma I'm having lately. I think in Toronto you just don't see too many people wear large solid gold watches, it's definitely not Miami or LA. I have a ladies size Cartier Tank Americaine with Diamonds and I am not sure I like the reaction of people when I am wearing it. I guess it depends on the neighbourhood you're in. I feel quite comfortable with white gold watches as not that many people are able to tell that it's gold. I am getting a vintage Rolex Day-Date in Yellow Gold, but it will definitely be a special occasion piece, not really suited for every day.

I think the cycle between yellow and white gold is funny......I originally had always worn only yg then once it started out of favor and everyone was going into wg/plat., I switched over because I loved the play of white (diamonds) on white. NOW, I am going back over to the 'yg' side.....my wed ring is plat and, what I would classify in my jewelry box, my siginificant rings are also in plat/wg. However my new Rolex is TT which I wear daily with my yg Love bangle and wearing yg bracelets more and more.....My more fun rings are TT. I didn't think I would ever wear yg again :). I love the look of the larger yg watches that some are wearing today with yg bangles, etc. Very rich looking.....

QueenDalia, your YG Roadser is gorgeous!! Did you get the pink strap seperately or did it come with the watch? I have a Lady size SS Roadster and mine only came with the dark red silk strap which I didn't really like because it doesn't fit my wrist (small) very well.
I'd love to have a YG watch..but with the price of the gold is going right now and the bad economy, I will have to wait for sure.
I never liked YG watch until recently. I really do agree it is a personal/skin tone choice.

I just got my YG 14kt diamond bezel Concord watch back from my god-daughter. Haven't worn it in years but I intend to wear it now. Good excuse to wear all my other YG jewelry.
Queen D...your Roadster is gorgeous!!!

Do you change the bands yourself? Is it hard? I was trying to decide between a strap or bracelet and the SA told me there is some tool to buy to change them. Is that how you do it? I just figured it would be pretty tough -- I remember the trouble I had switching Swatch bands :) TIA!

Yellow gold is back in general.
I'm surprised that it ever went out, actually. In my opinion, yellow gold is classic. I kept wearing it even when it was 'out' because I like it.
I like that rose gold is back. I have some inherited pieces, earrings and a thick bangle from my grandmother which I love and i'm glad that people now recognize them for what they are and appreciate them as I always did.
