When I went in a few weeks ago to look at the Vivienne they put gloves on to handle the bag. I felt a bit weird coz here I was putting my hands all over it...

She said they just started doing it yesterday and its to protect the bags from the oils in their hands...
I thought they were only wearing gloves for the higher end bags. I know the SAs wore gloves during the Sac Louis and the Haute Maroquinerie presentations that I went to, and I thought that was weird. But for like regular items and everyday, it seems unnecessary.
Certainly SAs should wear gloves for Haute Maroquinerie, the Parnassea line, Nomade or any exotics, because the bags are so valuable and even the smallest mark would make them unsellable.
Moreso the bags are delicate. Gloves are a sign of respect to not just the client but also the artisan who made them.
I guess maybe they don't want an SA who is wearing lotion or something touching the fresh vachetta??
I think it's fine to wear gloves. It looks a little more presentable too.
I work in the same vicinity as my local Chanel and LV store and on separate occasions I have witnessed SAs from both boutiques (male) not wash their hands after attending the bathroom lol. These guys should wear gloves

Gloves might seem unnecessary because it makes for a very formal presentation and we are very casual nowadays. I don't mind gloves.
