This is authentic. You realize it is a HAC not a Birkin? HAC in 36 is on the large side I think anyway.

This looks somewhat similar to the Sac Malette in terms of overall shape. Hard to really tell much from the photos provided. Not sure why the seller is saying the skin and lining are new (I do speak and understand French and he isn't saying "like new" but "new".)

I'm not seeing huge red flags but a Malette in leather goes for about $5-6k; the exotics go for about double, so I find this price somewhat surprising. It would be helpful to see good clear shots of the interior, the handle and even the engraved hardware, though I know you said the seller is not being terribly cooperative in terms of providing these.

You are absolutely right, he says "new"(my husband translated for me))) about the bag that's 45 y.o. and totally disregarded my request for every single type of shot you mentioned. I even told him w/o those shots it's impossible to determine a real condition for oneself. That's a pity *sigh*

If authentic, and I think it probably is, it's a really good price for this. But it would be helpful to see the condition of an exotic this old. As to the true age, these type of bags were actually made into the 1980s, from what I was told when I had one. And mine had no date stamp. So it could also be somewhat newer but still - good to be certain about condition when buying. Despite being relatively large outside, the interior of these bags holds very little. I had my (large) Azap in mine and that was nearly all that fit in it!

Thank you so much for sharing this experience of yours about this bag, Misti! So this sounds like one of those "queen" handbags that should hold a handkerchief, a small mirror and a pillbox, etc. I just re-submitted my request to the selle.r..let's see if he responds.
