Hi All,

This is my first post as I'm very new to this forum, but I was hoping for some help.

Having read a lot of these posts, I feel like Found the perfect place to share my bag obsession/questions. My friends or family are not into bags at all so I have to figure out my thoughts internally and sonetimes that is just too hard -lol.

So to start, I was a Coach girl until I got my first MK in September 2014. I've always been a 1 bag per season kinda gal but MK has so many styles and colors, I think I may need to start switching out bags more than twice a year.

I really want to add a Selma (large) to my collection & I am LOVING the aquamarine, however all my bags are neutrals. I Will be leaving my comfort zone for the first time & don't know if my first Selma should be the "daring one"? Does anyone have any suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated.

My first MK bag was also a neutral Large Selma in Dark Khaki.
Then I went for the Medium Selma in Mandarin. I felt Medium suited me more (I am only 147 cm tall). Also I felt the brighter colour looked better in the smaller size Selma (just my opinion). This colour surprisingly goes with everything in my wardrobe.

I think the main thing to consider when buying a brighter colour bag is whether it will go with your wardrobe. If you buy a colour that you have to find outfits to match then you won't use it as often?

Thank you for your reply! I should mention that my wardrobe is pretty much very neutral as well. I wear mainly grays and blacks with some light colors thrown in during the Spring/Summer. I feel like a bright color would help "spruce" my color choices. I like the large handbags as well. Although I do sometimes think the mediums tend to be cuter in a lot of styles, they just don't suit my needs. Decisions, decisions. I plan on going to Macy's to return some shoes and while there I was contemplating placing my "pre-order" for the up and coming Friends & Family sale.

Beautiful bag!! I love that color as well!

It's great that you are able to try the bag on at the store first.
Wear your usual outfit when you go. Carry the "potential" bag on your arm and shoulder and take a few mod shots.
Sit down and look at the selfies and see how you feel about seeing yourself carrying the bag.
Or if you are with someone, get them to model it for you?

Forgot to mention, see if the colour suits your skin tone too. That might help with your decision. Best of luck!

What are your favorite colors outside of the grays and blacks? Those are the ones you should look at for your first Selma. Those same colors will most likely be a part of your existing wardrobe and easy to pair with your new handbag, as coivcte says. If that ends up being aquamarine, then you should get that color.

My first MK bag was a large luggage Selma. I wanted to start with a neutral and really love the medium brown color. It goes with everything. I also originally had my eye on sapphire and it ended up being my third Selma color after luggage and malachite (dark green). I love all three of them for different reasons.

I absolutely knew I wanted sapphire the first time I saw it. Cobalt blue is so pretty against black and other dark colors. It really pops. Also, one of my favorite colors is emerald green, so I researched every single green that MK came out with before settling on malachite. And luggage is MK's standard brown that you can pretty much get every season, so I picked that one up first. I couldn't be happier with my color choices.

Take your time and really figure out what colors looks best on you and complement your skin tone and wardrobe. That's how you'll be able to pick your first Selma color.

I really love this mandarin Selma! I don't lean towards reds or oranges, but this mandarin color is so pretty! :smile1:

You should get aquamarine and bring home. Don't remove tags and try on with clothes you normally wear or hold up against outfits. I'm sure you will love it

What excellent ideas everyone, thanks so much. I plan on heading to Macy's this evening and will wear one of my "standard" work outfits and use these suggestions. I will post the outcome!

I say go for it. I'm more of a neutral girl, but ever since I've added a Fuschia Selma in my life everything has been perfect. Now I wear it with EVERYTHING even if it doesn't match lol. ImageUploadedByPurseForum1428921848.967818.jpg

Funny Fuschia is on my list as well, I love it too! I also love the pear as well but the aquamarine is just beautifuI. have a feeling which ever color I walk away with (really hoping I can break away from my safe zone neutrals and go bright) I too will be wearing with everything as well... The bag is a statement on its own, right?? I think it should be the attraction - matching or not!!
