bellabird, here are some example of figure-skimming tops - there was actually a particular one I was thinking of that tied at the side on the hip, but I can't find it, sorry!

Currently, I'm a pear (again) thanks to bingeing on chinese new year goodies. So I wear alot of dresses, mostly mini as I'm petite (5'2), which I think are quite flattering for my figure.

When I lost weight last year, I lost my hips and my figure looked like that of a boy's! I quite like that cos I always admire supermodels' thin tiny frames. So it's off to the gym now for me! haha

This is the post I was talking about! The cut/fit is the most important thing when it comes to clothes! Well, that and the pattern LOL. This doesn't just apply to hourglasses, it applies to everyone. All the celebrities that you see have had their clothes especially fitted to fit their bodies: jeans, pants, shirts, dresses, everything! The wrong fit will make a supermdel look frumpy or awkward.

Agreed, fit is important for everyone. More important to focus on fit than size. I also think that most trends can be translated for practically every shape, it's about proportion and fit.

Back to hourglass... being curvy/fit I find that depending on what I'm wearing I can look waifish or va-va-voom curvilicious.

OR The wrong dress can make me look 20 pounds heavier (!!!). The wrong dress for me is something that makes my torso look too short and has too much gathered fabric at the hips. I prefer dresses that hug, skim or wrap around my curves.

I guess I am the first one. Kinda tall, boyish shape with no waist and no butt. I love jeans with back flap pockets! I am bigger on top than on the bottom so I wear light color skirts/jeans/shorts and darker smaller patterned tops.

I have long legs, so a lot of jeans don't need to be hemmed which is nice, but one piece items like dresses can be hard to find. I also like ankle wrap shoes as my legs are so long they look like Bambi legs under shorts and skirts.
I have kind of broad shoulders so I find halter style and tanks look better than regular sleeveless tops and dresses.
