Anyone Tired of Twillies and Not Afraid to Say It?

Sorry, not sorry. I think twillies themselves are very pretty and have seen some lovely ones...that if I coughed up the money to buy, I would use as a pretty hair tie.

Putting a twilly on a bag takes away from the beauty of the bag. Yes, I understand the argument that you want to protect the handles, blah, blah. You bought an expensive bag. Use the darn bag, handles and all.

Not to mention the biggest reason I can’t stand them: they’re the most pretentious looking things I’ve ever seen, wrapped tightly around handles and knotted at the ends like you’re someone who has your own private aircraft to take you to your penthouse suite. Get over yourself.

This thread will cause major contention, I have no doubt. But whatever - I stand my ground. Let this awful trend end. Free the bag handles! Anti-Twilly Supporters, unite!

Hmm. I’ve never seen a twilly/bandeau and thought it was pretentious. I personally prefer to wear them as a bracelet as I don’t think it suits any of my current handbags. I’m not tired of them tho. I enjoy seeing them on other people’s handbags.

I don't mind twillies. I only have three as they really aren't my style. Two for my vintage Willis when I want to add a pop of color/contrast but I don't twist them around the handle - just a simple knot and drape. I do have one for my Aevha London that has a wooden handle that I do need to protect. I've never found them to be pretentious.

Nothing wrong with flying private, penthouse suites, or trying to protect ones bags from damage. Reverse snobbism is just as bad as snobbism. This forum is supposed to be about mutual support in our shared hobby in fashion!

I don't think they're pretentious. I view them the same as bag charms or tying a flowy scarf from one side of your bag. Just a way to further personalize a bag and your own style.

Love twillies! I appreciate not having to worry if too much lotion is still on my hands or if they didn't dry completely after washing them and any residual moisture will add wear to the handles. I like matching the colors to my outfits too esp if the handbag is a neutral color. I think it is a nice way to add variety to my collection!

I like the twillies. Actually, I like everything people do to add their own pop of individuality to a bag, from fobs to added studs/pins/patches. Plus some of these special additions sometimes have a meaning to the bag carrier. My sister has a twillie with sushi food print that her husband got her as an anniversary gift (They met at a sushi bar).

Finally!! Personally I also think that
Twillies detract from the beauty of a bag and can be overdone. Sometimes it seems that this is becoming the Twillie Forum.

I do say! Which is exactly why I haven’t contributed to this forum in ages...quite a few “holier-than-thou, don’t accept what I don’t think!” women who are so bonded together that I wonder if they share credit card debt. People are allowed to share different opinions? I would love it if anyone spoke what they really thought, except bahh-ing and pecking to the rule of the roost.
People at this forum used to say what they thought without ridicule, even if it was without the general opinion of the majority. People asked polite questions, respected different opinions...it wasn’t some silly soccer-mom united front. And honestly, if opposing opinions on twillies has you that upset, you should probably reevaluate the priorities in your life. “All in good fun!”
