Anyone tired of LV...

I like the LV monogram and SLGS but prefer leather bags from other brands. For some reason, have struggled to like empriente or Epi leather. Since I have enough SLGs and monogram pieces for everyday use, I no longer feel the pull to buy more LV. I feel my canvas pieces serve me well for all my needs. Trendy or not, they are extremely functional. I feel, the big change is in their marketing. When I bought my pochette metis or my multipochette accessories, I remember getting ‘looks’ from onlookers as they were such coveted items and you had to be invited to purchase them. That is no longer the case, everything is available online almost all the time in many different variants. Although I love my pieces and wear them with joy, I feel LV has lost its exclusivity.

I’ve always thought LV was overhyped back in the day and said I would never buy LV because it seemed basic because everyone has an LV bag.

Yeah… that was until a few months ago I bought a Petite Malle and have been adding more and more LV bags and SLGs to my collection. I see the hype or maybe it’s just the dopamine hit I get when I open the packages up.

There’s some discontinued vintage pieces I want but like some people say, it is so over saturated and the many fakes floating around just gives me a fear of buying pre loved items and it being fake
so can relate to that and I am so many people on this forum as well. LV can be so addictive. I was NOT into monogrammes until I bought my first LV monogram bag. Generally LV bags are low maintenance (except vachetta), light weight and still give that oomph to your outfit.

Don’t we all love a polarizing topic

I wouldn’t say tired… I didn’t purchase LV bags for almost 10 years (for various reasons), but the Kusama Collection brought me back and I indulged! It’s these artistic/quirky collections that Louis Vuitton does, that keeps me as a fan. I love that the brand doesn’t feel so stiff and stuffy all the time. And I love the various price points the House offers, so there’s always something for someone.

Being tired of luxury seems to be the current trend. Especially with brands out pricing themselves (hint, they don’t care) and the uncertainty of the US economy looming. To some, spending two $2-$3000 on canvas is ridiculous given the disparity.

But addressing the design standpoint of being tired of the brand, I wish they would slow down! Like seriously, every collection is done in two parts now. With almost 20+ options in each one. It’s kind of watering down the brand. And quite frankly causing fatigue. For me, being away from the brand so long, and seeing how many bags were discontinued… I see some things on a secondhand market and I am lost! I wish they would focus more on quality, designs that will stick around for at least five years. Like give me the next iconic bag. Not that bumbag that isn’t a bumbag!
EXACTIMO!! LV needs to bring out less not more!!!

I TOTALLY agree about the fatigue. I keep thinking, "Do I want to waste my brain juice on this?" We buy something and then it's not even used much and 2 more drops come out. I agree that it's watering it down. I'm so glad I gave up Insta and FB. I have to get rid of these "influencers" on my YT algorithm and I'll be good!

I have the PM in damier ebene purchased a few years ago too, so I don't know if it's available now. I don't find it on the LV website. I love your GM!!!
Thank you :smile:I was visiting San Francisco, I randomly happened to see the Louis Vuitton store (in Union Square area of San Francisco) so I stopped in and I was telling a sweet SA that I really wanted a GM but could never find the it online.

She went back and told me there happened to be one in their stock! So that is how I ended up with my GM:heart:

If you get a chance to visit a LV site, I recommend checking with a SA to see what canvas pieces are available in their store since the website alone can be frustrating/confusing when I’m trying to find something I want!

I’m quite the opposite… I’ve come back to LV after not buying anything from them for over a decade. I also used to be a member of this forum in 2007, and I’ve returned because of the Kusama collection… which I think is the type of collection that could be described as juvenile and “for the Asian market”. I think LV is giving me something that Chanel doesn’t just now: fun and unique designs. I’m a millennial, so not particularly young… and while I dress age-appropriate I’ve always liked my clothing to be a bit more fun than classic. To me, spending a lot of money (and woah how prices have changed since 2007) on an accessory or clothing is more about buying something that hits the sweet spot between unique/fun and classic. Maybe at this moment in life I crave more pumpkins on canvas than quilted classics…?
Bingo! This spoke to me & completely agree. They know how to hit that sweet spot of classic but fun.

I’m barely on social media, but when I perused the other forums & heard that LV started to use influencers to showcase bags… turn off lol. So I don’t blame you for unfollowing them.

But with all these major, back to back releases, things are starting to not feel so special anymore. You totally right… you buy something, but the next release is a few short weeks away that you’re anticipating and planning for, you don’t even get time to enjoy and really appreciate your first purchase. Like let’s slow down here!
Luxury fashion was never meant to be fast fashion. Let’s get back to artisans crafting these pieces and making sure bags are passing quality control.

Advice needed please…. I bought this micro wallet last year in London boutique, I didn’t even use it in the summer (so maybe has 6 months overall usage) and all of a sudden the button hardware discolored. Is that normal ? I’m a bit surprised this is the first time I see this… should I complain with LV? Has anyone experienced this?thanks !

Wow! I'm so sorry that happened to you. That is NOT normal. I have 20 year old items and that has never happened.
