Anyone shop in Japan recently?

Thanks to @Prada Prince and @rikkuex for the food for thought… I was able to try both (still floored they were able to secure both) and went with YG. I’m officially at VCA peace, and then some!!!!!

FYI I did ask if hammered pieces are more available now and the SA said that it’s down to timing and luck but she did have an easier time getting these transferred from other boutiques than in the past. Hope that helps others.

Hiya this might have been mentioned before but can’t seem to find the threads now so hoping someone can help with this 😊

How much is the tax refund for VCA in Japan currently? Meaning the % we get back after all the necessary charges.

Hi I just returned from Japan / Tokyo. Maison Ginza closed for renovations and they opened a popup store at Matsuya mall just across the street … they still have the Maison Ginza pendant in case someone wonders.
The VCA in department stores usually give you 10% VAT minus -1.54% admin fee from the Matsuya department store so you get back -8.46% in CASH ONLY at that Matsuya store (you go to their duty free desk and they give you the cash right away …). For other boutique ask maybe about the local admin fee which can depend on each store. At the airport YOU HAVE TO SHOW your pieces at the customs (just after security check)

Have fun prospecting there 🤩

It’s a little less than 10% back (that’s the full refund). I prefer buying in the standalone boutiques, including Ginza Six, because there’s no refund fee.

Thank you for the reply! Do I visit the website to make an appointment? Or do you think I can score a walk in?

Thank you for the reply! It’ll be my first time buying in Japan. I didnt know this so glad that you shared this tip. Do you have any particular boutique or SA to recommend from Tokyo?

I took all my appointments online through VCA boutique and 2 months in advance I could have some choice with the schedule. If they don’t have any appointments left then try your chance going early morning at the opening and they should be able to give you a slot so that you go back later the same day. I asked my SA there if I can give you his details and if yes I send you a DM (check your DM tomorrow …)

Sounds like you had another great trip! Did you take home one of the lovely Ginza pendants? Did they have/are they still making the Ginza sautoirs (11? 14? motifs)? Sorry if you already said what you purchased in another thread already. Thanks, and welcome home!

Thanks. I didn’t ask for LE sautoir but never heard of that on this forum. Maybe can somebody else answer ?
The LE maison Ginza pendant I tried it on but as I rarely wear my HP I find a bit too dainty I didn’t buy it. I already have the magic paved pendant and wear it quite a lot. Here you can see it : IMG_2372.webp

Very cool you got to try this! It looks gorgeous on you, but I understand the redundancy since you already have pave magic. Thanks for sharing the photo!

Ooh, it looks lovely on you, especially with your polka-dot blouse. I actually prefer this size of motif - the regular VA is a bit too dainty as you say and the usual magic seems so big (to me). Like Goldilocks, for a single motif, I find this one to be 'just right.' Sadly, when we were in Tokyo, the Ginza pendant wasn't available. I feel so lucky to have the Vendome and the Prince's versions, especially since I like a lot of color! I've never seen the Ginza sautoir in person - the SA showed me a photo on her phone, and I found a photo on the internet later. I like the Byzantine motifs, so I was intrigued by the sautoir.

OMG this sautoir is AMAZING! Thanks for showing me. Go back next year to Tokyo so will ask my SA there 🫶🏻. Thanks !

@Swellgal @meemeetoo : to really be honest I have to say I liked the size of this Ginza LE (but prefer the versatility of the magic pendants with double chain, one strand chain sautoir etc) ; but I really promised myself not to buy any more necklace or bracelet in MOP as I know this will loose the special luster it has at the beginning and I am not fond of that. I might buy earrings though. A pity they don’t do LE Ginza earrings then 🥹

Isn't it stunning? And the MOP wouldn't lose it's luster the way it would with the pendant as the MOP motifs would be mostly against your clothing. The clasp is a pave motif. I hope your SA has good news that they are continuing production of the sautoir. When I was there in 2023, the woman I spoke to said I could order one and then ... wait and come back when it was ready.
Would you mind sharing your SA's info via DM, please? I so enjoyed meeting your Singapore contacts. Do they speak English or work with an interpreter? We're hoping to go back to Japan next year. Thank you!

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for all your posts and feedback. I’m planning a trip to Japan early next year and would love the opportunity to get Ginza LE mother of pearl pendant. Does anyone mind sharing their SA info? I do not know if reaching out ahead of time would help but want to see if I can reserve or at least know if I can hope to get one. Thank you in advance!
