I was not aware of the warranty because I stayed away from the brand for decades, so I did not focus on the warranty aspect because it didn’t even cross my mind to question it. But that said, I did in fact do as you suggested. I went back today and exchanged it for another nomad – the saddle one. You know, I actually really like this bag. I want this bag to last. That’s why I was so frustrated because it makes me question if the bag will last more than one season.

I also agree that the volume of production will have some bags with quality issues, but I just couldn’t believe that it would have it happened twice in a short timespan. Maybe the dye lot for the stone-colored leather had issues? Who knows. I regret that I didn’t take any photos of the tears so I could post them here. I will say that the tears occurred on the outside where the bag creases, located at the top third part of the bag. I think what happened was the creases created a tiny air pocket, maybe where the glue wasn’t 100% sealed, which then, through friction from use, caused it to tear.

And yes, I felt like I did get bashed here for sharing my experience with the bag. Thank you to the poster who brought that up. I felt like there was an accusatory tone like my experience really didn’t happen. Why would I make that up? And who has time to waste posting about something that didn’t really happen? I was venting my frustration and disappointment because I like the bag and want it to last!

I am glad you exchanged it, hopefully this new one will live up to expectations. Stick around i think overall you will find the board fun. ;)

I am glad you were able to get a different one after knowing of the warranty!

The reason people questioned you is because your avatar name is specifically about the defective bag and there was no intro of any kind and only the one post. It looked trollish, tbh. Also, several of us have this very bag and have never had that kind of issue, so for it to happen twice to one person just seemed very odd. I am sorry I questioned your legitimacy on the defect, but we've had posters come on more than once to specifically bash the brand, no intro, and claim they had a crappy quality experience, stir the pot, and then leave- never to be heard from again. Sorry for being on high alert.

Welcome to the forum and I hope you love your new Nomad!

It is a beautiful bag...I have the saddle but haven't carried it much yet. That is interesting to hear about the stone having those issues twice. I have one with the tags still attached I have been debating the light color. This makes me think more seriously about whether or not I will keep it. Hope this saddle one has no issues for you!
Keep YOUR bag. USE YOUR bag. ENJOY YOUR bag.

Giving the new bag a closer inspection today I noticed that the color and texture is uniform and smooth. On the two stone-colored bags, there were some small variations in the color and the texture was not quite as smooth. A little hard to describe, almost like the color was “painted on” vs. dyed where the leather would absorb the color. At the time I just assumed it was how the bags were finished, but now maybe not. I wonder if it was a bad batch of the stone-colored bags that I received. For the poster who said she has the stone bag with the tags on it, maybe look at it to see if the color and texture of the bag is uniform and smooth?

I am hopeful that the new bag will last. I will post updates if anyone is interested.

Sometimes bags seem to be higher quality in some leathers vs others. I remember seeing archival ramblers that looked bad, but the one I got was good. Hope your saddle nomad is a good one.

I was the one that mentioned having the stone Nomad with tags on. The first one I looked at did have some darkening...too noticeable for me. The one I have now has one area that looks a little dark...as you mentioned possible the color does not go on the way through. I will have to decide. Good luck on Saddle.
