Believe me, I love the design of the bag. Thats why I bought it! I figured the first bag was an anomaly because with the high volume of production, some bags wont be perfect. It was just frustrating to have the second bag do the same thing.
I did not realize Coach has a 1-year warranty, but Im not going to take the time out to exchange it again. It just isnt worth it for me to do so. The first time I went to exchange it, the sales clerk had a tone claiming it was wear and tear and was not particularly helpful. Fortunately I had my sales receipt to show that it was only a week old. I like the design enough to want to exchange it vs. returning it. I am just writing it off as a bag with a flaw. I decided to glue the tear hoping it will stick and use it until it wears out.
It is the exterior of the bag that has the paper thin leather glued to what appears to be a vinyl base. Both bags were the stone color. Maybe I was just unlucky to have both bags tear, and they were small tears, but enough that you could see the dark base that, frankly, was frustrating to see.
I did not post to bash the brand but merely to express my disappointment in the quality of the bag. I would be willing to pay a higher price and would be a fan of the brand if they would go back to using quality materials it used during the 80s top grain leather and solid brass hardware. I agree with the original poster of this thread, Coach should reconsider its business plan and retool its branding. It could continue capturing the fashion-forward market with different designs and fun colors, but still offer their original classics, with the great leather, and amazing handmade craftsmanship.
