I have tried to like colour - by colour I mean anything NOT black. I have a few bags that are not black - a small pink, couple of gray, some LV canvas (small pieces) - however my main bags are black. I bought expensive bags in non-black and just never reached for them, they did not make me happy. I think this is what it comes down to - being sensible, being different, being cute etc - none of these matter if you are not happy with it. my black bags truly make me happy, so I keep on getting more. I know people often think black is heavy in summer but I live in perpetual summer (literally) and so I stopped associating black with cold. it depends on the size and the style - a cute dress with a black WOC works for me for example
I pretty much agree with you. I do have some colored bags now. I have a peach colored one that I enjoy carrying sometimes in summer. And a green one that's very neutral, two plum colored ones. I had a beautiful red Tods bag that I sold. I just don't reach for brighter reds that often - in clothes or bags. I have a red wallet but it's not bright red. So we all live and learn what our preferences are.
Like you, I live in a warm climate so we don't really have winter but we do change up our wardrobe. I used to think black was too stark against summer clothes but I saw Jennifer Aniston, who has more money than just about anyone, carrying her Tom Ford black bag all the time, including with very light colored summer clothes. Figured if it was good enough for her, it was ok for me. So black bags are in my rotation for summer too.

Hope you can save up and get the red one, to me you can use the red one is more versatile and you can use it for both formal and informal occasions
There are handbag clinics like STYLUX and may others who recolour your bag professionally.
What are your thoughts on getting it red coloured ?
