No offence, but I think these are most likely to appeal to women who aren't serious bag lovers. Each of my bags has its own charisma and I don't find it a hassle to transfer stuff from one bag to another. The whole process takes under a minute. Plus, I fnd most of these shells uninteresting-looking. I wouldn't be surprised if they appealed to my mother though.
How would you define a "serious bag lover" and is there a list of qualifications that I have to fulfil to become one?
Wow people really hate these bags! Well, when you think about what we all normally might use, I can see why some people have such strong opinions. I took a good look through their online catalog. I only liked one or two, and what the hey, I am going to try one. I have been trying to find nice vegan bags, and so far the only other designer that I like and that I can afford is Matt and Nat. I do agree that I find a good number of the shells not very appealing, but there are a couple that I feel are quite nice! Does anyone else own one? I would love to hear good and bad feedback!
Hmm, I don't hate them. I am not overly fond of my friend/coworker, but that's a long story.. and we would be off topic if I went in to why, hehe, she's still called "friend". Now..
I'm mostly anti-fur, except for recycled or repurposed, or even ethically obtained, however, I'm not anti leather. I feel like the by product of the food industry should really be used, in order to make as much of the animal used as possible. (Don't get me wrong, I still won't eat liver or other organs..but hey..). I think a few of the Miche styles are relatively cute, but it's totally not me.
I can't really "afford" bags either, but the reason why I have a bit of a collection? It's because some of these handbags have lasted me 15 years and you couldn't tell it by looking at them. I just sent a Dooney bag to Donney for repair. They're putting on new trim, a new strap, and a new zipper, and it will cost me $40, and I will effectively have a new bag, because those are the only spots showing any wear. 15 years of hard use. I don't baby my handbags. Now, I only sent it to Dooney to have the strap replaced, but.. I'm happy with that outcome. In any case, I think that little bag cost me $150? Over 15 years, that's $10 a year for that purse. Less than what I'd spend at Target or Wal-Mart, for each purse. When I bought cheaper, it was a new purse every couple of months, $15 each time?
Try the Miche. I haven't heard any complaints about them. She certainly has been wearing hers about for several months and I don't see it falling apart, of course, I don't show any serious interest in it, or she starts trying to sell me, and it's everything I can do not to roll my eyes at her. (A reflection on her, not on Miche).
I get a lot of my purses on sale, or at an outlet. In truth, they're backed by the same guarantees, and Dooney, at least, doesn't send their seconds, although I'm beginning to wonder about Coach.
In any case, Miche's got some really cute designs. But I like my leather. I like the smell, the feel, the fact that you can scuff it and with a good bag, it blends right in..and if you like the same style of purse, it's a brilliant idea.
Price comparison, I'm not actually certain what price they are, but I can bet that my friend didn't pay a lot for hers. But it does seem to be reasonably well made, and surely it's lasted her longer than I've seen others last.
Oh, oh, oh. I know the answer to that question.
You have to have one of the following rituals:
You have quality time with a new bag.
You put a new bag to bed in its dustbag and make sure it is sleeping well.
You get dressed up and take a new bag for a walk at 11pm on its first night home.
You do a happy dance with a new bag.
You hang a new bag on the towel rack and admire it from the bathtub.
You inspect every square inch of a new bag at least 3 times, or photograph it, or log it into a bag inventory.
Or one of the other rituals listed in this thread:

I applaud their ingenuity. And I can see their appeal. but they are just not my cup of tea. It would probably take me just as long to fuss with the shells as it would to switch purses as I have become quite clumsy in my dotage![]()
