Can't remember exactly but mine was sent registered mail I think it took 10-15 days. Mine was to Moscow as well.

She just got my bag today . I send express on 13. So it took like 15 days . She said it got held up on custom n they made her pay for a $50 custom tax n said the bag was retailed at 1450. N she is mad at me , but I remember I only declare a value n insure the bag of 800. Do they charge you based on current retail or sth ?

I have an item that shipped Monday am and it appears to have not moved since Monday at 6pm! Not a single update for today. Expected delivery is listed as tommorow.....

Mine was scanned yesterday at it's usual facility about 40 miles from here but it did not show up in tracking til this am, along with my local PO and 'out for delivery' scan, so yeah, the system is running late.....

I'm in the same dilemma, but in the early stages i guess. I ordered an item from an eBay seller shipping from UK to USA via Royal Mail airmail. Royal Mail shows the item is in the USA, but USPS shows original country preparing shipment an it's been like that for 7 days. Idk what to do. I've contacted the seller, but she isn't burning to helpful as tracking on her end shows its arrived in the USA. I'm getting worried as it was an expensive item. Any thoughts on what I should do? Anyone have an recent experience with sending or receiving packages from UK to USA?

I'm not sure how they do charge customs fees. Did you declare/insure for the actual amount the bag sold for on Ebay, right? As I said before Russian Customs it's very strict about under - declared items so if it was a well-known brand they just might have done their homework researching the retail price. But I don't know, it's just my guess. Also, she shouldn't be mad at you since customs fees are upon the buyer, and it's not really your fault if she got hit.

Royal Mail airmail doesn't have a tracking number IIRC? Or did she send it Signed-for (registered mail)?

Anyway, you should not be worried yet. I would wait a few days more. I sent an item early October with registered mail to US and I thought it was lost for good but on Nov 27th the tracking went from "origin post is preparing shipment" to "processed through sort facility". Buyer won NRI claim so Ebay refunded her. Now the item should already been delivered (buyer and facility are in the same city) but the tracking has not updated yet. At this point I just don't want the buyer to keep both money and item but she has not replied to my msg yet.

So it got scanned yesterday at you local facility and today it was already out for delivery?

My item shows "processed through sort facility" on Nov 27th (early morning) and this facility is about 20-25 Km far away from buyer's address. Do you think it should have already delivered? TIA

Although I think you're a bit premature in worrying, you're protected. A package showing item to be in the US isn't going to be good enough to protect her if it doesn't get to you. The seller will need to prove delivery to you and if the item is $250+, it also should have a signature.

Give it time since you have 45 days to file a dispute in the event it doesn't arrive. Between being an international shipment, Hurricane Sandy and the Christmas/holiday season, the mail is slower than usual.

I'm sorry to hear what happened to you and hope it gets sorted out soon.

Yes, the seller sent it signed for registered mail and said it was airmail, but I have no clue to be honest.

I guess i'm just going to have to wait it out and hopefully tracking will get updated soon and I will have my bag.

Thanks a lot for all of your help :smile1:

Thanks for your reply! I am just worried as this package is worth $1,300 and the method she shipped it, it should have arrived btwn 5-7 days and the tracking is at a standstill not even showing its arrived in the USA.

This is the first time i've order from an International seller, so I am getting a little worried. I do understand that I am covered, but i've lost paypal disputes in the past, when I shouldn't have so I do not feel 100% secure with it..

I guess I'm just going to have to wait it out and see.

I declared the value and insured the bag for $800. And i agreed with you that they might did their own research and she was been taxed based on the market value. so from now on i just make it clear on my listing that customs are solely the reponsibility of the buyers. and im not gonna under declare a value.

UPS and FedEx base their fees on the amount of the declaration. I highly doubt with all of the items they get on a daily basis, they google search the value of each item. They may have seen what was inside and hiked the price of the item based on an acute knowledge of the brand or item. I know that leather items usually declare for a higher value, and I think that accessories do as well. They take fees based on the item plus fees for them transporting the item between countries. It's a ripoff, but if you want to make sure your item is safe (i.e. not use regular mail) then it's the price you have to pay. Next time I would include an invoice inside the package saying what your buyer paid for the item, so that they can't gauge them with unnecessary markups.

Ok, the package I sent via registered mail to U.S. on November 6th still has no updates on the USPS tracking page. Buyer sent me a message today and told me she has not received it. This is the first time this happens to me. So I should refund her via paypal now?

This still gives me hopes. Thank you!

So just last week I got a letter from the FDA stating that my package was being retained and it was not in compliance with USA Policy. Stated my items were "medications" (They were herbs). So Looks like I am out about $500. I called and agent said "No you can't have your package..." That was that. I tried to explain to no avail. Hope thats not the case for you....John
