Hello all,

I shipped a dress with Hellenic Post (registered mail) from Greece to North Carolina, USA, on October 29th. I have sent several items to US in the past and never had problems with USPS tracking page. Usually, it updates when the item leaves Greece (processed through sort facility - Athens) and then in about 7 days, I get an update that the items arrived in a sort facility in US and a few days later it shows the arrival at the state I sent it to.
Now, after the first update on October 29th - processed through sort facility - Athens, there is nothing else. My buyer is anxious. Has anyone else experienced this situation?

TIA!

I would let the buyer know that NYC was hit hard by the hurricane and communications and deliveries were halted for several days. There is most likely a back log of packages. For nearly a week, no planes were running in and out of New York, so I imagine that also delayed packages from getting to customs in a timely manner. I would ask the buyer to be patient and maybe ask her to wait 10 more days and see what happens.

I don't know about packages coming from outside of the US, but I do know my packages from the US to abroad have gone through NYC. I have heard that NYC is backed up due to the hurricane and bad weather. I know that parts of the city are still in bad shape. Perhaps some of the NYC ladies here have more information on how the postal service is running? I feel your anxiety though - I also have a package sent to a buyer in NYC but tracking has stopped updating after last Saturday when it arrived in NYC. Fingers crossed that things get back to normal soon in the city.

Hi, the very same thing happened to me! I sent an item - registered mail as well - from IT to US (NY). USPS never updated the tracking (still showing "origin post is preparing shipment") even if it's almost 1 month and half since I sent the item. I opened a claim with the Postal service here and they say the item has been sent to US and they are investigating. In my case the buyer filed a claim with Ebay and I lost it since I could not provide proof of delivery. I called USPS international office twice but they could not give me any add info. I never had any problem with USPS tracking before... now I see I'm not the only! (ps. I lost the item, the money and also PP/EBAY fees!!!)

ETA: I'm sure there are backlogs due to Hurricane, but my packages should have been delivered wayyy before Sandy (around October 20th). Also, I think it should have at least scanned upon arrival at Customs!

Good luck.
I'm experiencing a delay to at least two shipments from abroad (tracking number still updated, though). One of my items from Austria got stuck in a NC sorting facility for the last three working days (USPS observed a holiday this Monday). The irony is that sorting facility is only 1.5 hr drive from where I live :pout:. No idea why it takes them so freaking long?!

About Sandy's impact - I don't think it's the case now - my shipment was in ISC New York for like 4 days and proceeded to another sorting facility.

Sandy definitely caused about a week or so delay even in shipments within the U.S., but the USPS also has not been updating their site correctly for a while. I have contacted a few buyers and found out (luckily I had honest ones) they had received the item that USPS shows still as not delivered. One time it said they left a notice but never updated it when the person picked it up or had it redelivered, other times they just never scanned it. Very frustrating, and not good for potential scammers.

True! This happened to me once in the past, I never received USPS tracking page updates, but the item was delivered and the buyer left positive feedback.

I agree. I don't want to think bad about my buyer but here they say the items has been sent to US (they even sent me a letter saying that). I'm waiting to hear from them before appealing the Ebay decision. I'm def not letting this go.
Do you know if I can call the buyer's post office? Do they have a tel number?
