I wanted to share the results of my Exceptional Tigre Royale Bandana scarf that was purchased at the Carre Club event. I want to especially thank @HKsai who was terrific in explaining the process of stitching the scarf to the mat. I was so buoyed by the success of his scarf framing, I hoped for a similar outcome on mine.

A local frame shop with excellent reviews was commissioned with the framing and I shared numerous photos from this thread and from @HKsai. They were a bit concerned about the challenge of sewing the scarf down, but having viewed alternate options we agreed to do the sew down to mat effect. We chose a greater depth frame a la shadow box style (about 1” deep) and the white silk mat is a close color to the bandana border. Super pleased with the final results and hope others share more success stories!

I am going to share my "simplified" scarf hanging system. This little project took me less than 45 minutes (I believe).

The scarf will be flat against the wall using this method. Alternatively it can be raised as well using the same magnet system but we will leave that for another post next time.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

1. Blue Painter's tape - ~ $7

This is mainly used for aligning the scarf at the position you want against the wall. Since I am doing this alone, this tape has helped tremendously to tape the scarf on the wall for me to eyeball the position I want against the wall and also for me to mark the center and corners of the scarf.

2. 1/2" diameter x 1/16" thick Disc Magnets - 10 pairs (20 pieces total) - ~$15
For this particular project, I use 10 pairs (20 magnets) total to hang the scarf fairly square. You could use more but a minimum of 10 pairs is needed to get a good square shape.

Magnets can be ordered here. It is free shipping.

Notice the ones I bought have adhesive included on the back side of the magnets.

After I bought this, I realize the adhesive is VERY thin and does not work well on the plaster wall at all so I suggest to get those without the adhesive instead like these so that you don't have to spend time peeling off the adhesive like I did.

3. 3M Damage-Free Command Removable Small Poster Strips - $2.50 approximately
https://www.walmart.com/ip/3M-Command-Removable-Poster-Strips-17024PM-OF/28403806

SETUP PROCEDURES:
1. Run the blue tape horizontally against the wall to mark where you want the top of the scarf to be.

2. Then tape the top edge of the scarf along this horizontal strip as shown here in this picture.

Check if you like the position of the scarf. If not re-adjust your tape accordingly until you find the position you like. You may need to use a leveler by downloading the leveler app to make sure the scarf is level. I did not do this at all. I was just eyeballing everything.

3. Mark the center and the 2 corners where the top of the scarf will be on the horizontal tape.

4. Affix one magnet on to the 3M poster strip. Make sure the magnet is as close to the straight edge of the strip as possible as shown on the picture below.
View attachment 3771534
Next apply the strip/magnet to the top center. When applying, make sure the center of the disc magnet is on the centerline you have marked on the blue tape. Also ensure the 3M pull arrow is pointing downwards. You want to press down on the entire poster strip to ensure it is sticking well to the wall. Now you can start hanging the top center of the scarf on this magnet and this scarf will help to guide you on placing the rest of the 9 poster strips.

Continue to work on the 2 top corners with the 3M poster strip arrow pointing downward as well. Then work on the intermittent space between the center and the corners. You should have a total of 5 magnets here when completed.

5. Continue working on the bottom of the scarf. Place the blue tape on the bottom of the scarf to help you guide where the bottom will be. Use a leveler to make sure the line is straight.

Place the magnet strip on to the bottom center first and then continue to work on the the 2 outside corners. Ensure the poster strip arrow points left/right or upward as shown.

6. Then work on the 2 sides.

The finish product will look like this that costs less than $30.

Hope this helps. Thank you.
I have started to frame my scarves with the magnets, although I have them attached to a backboard so that the scarf can easily be removed for use then put back into place. I just couldn’t bear myself to have the scarves sewn onto a backboard, especially as over 50 of my scarves are older than me, and a handful older than my parents!

Bumping this post because I am wondering the same..I just purchased my very first scarf in silk jersey which I absolutely adore but it feels so super delicate I am scared of destroying it. Despite having moisturized hands I feel like it snags on every microscopic fleck of dried skin. Is is more durable than it seems? And if not is it possible to frame and display without the risk of stretching it out? 20200625_145557.jpg

Hi, I ended up framing my jersey and it turned out awesome! I ordered a custom frame w/ acid free foam core backing, size determined by measuring scarf on all sides. I centered the scarf on the acid free foam core then using flat head pins I lightly stretched the scarf and pinned on the edge of the foam core backing. I know many will literally pass out when they hear I pinned an Hermes scarf, however, I do not ever plan on removing from the frame. I love love love how my framed scarf turned out! Let me know if you need help:) 63A23EDF-2BBD-4EFA-BB99-A58DE0263E78.jpegCCB8EB97-980F-4F54-B7D9-918D50CCFEF6.jpeg63A23EDF-2BBD-4EFA-BB99-A58DE0263E78.jpegCCB8EB97-980F-4F54-B7D9-918D50CCFEF6.jpeg

Wow. I really love that designer. She has phenomenal taste.

I’m debating on a silk 140. I absolutely love the colors and designs (and I was sad I missed the cashmere version in 2016). I,m not sure I will wear it as much as a cashmere, but I would be ok buying if I could justify framing it down the road. It was hard to visualize a frame so big, but seeing a photo helped visualize it for me. I can see it being a really fun piece for an office after I’m done wearing it.

I also want to buy some 90s in the same print but different color ways like below. That is so pretty!

Sorry. I meant to quote your question earlier and just noticed I forgot to do that. Seeing it framed definitely helps and the fact that she has it in a small “nook” is a great example of not needing a huge wall to place it on.
I’ve always loved the idea of framing multiple 90s like your example. The problem is convincing the hubby to go along with it!
