I think you need to go with D-E and VVS1-VVS2 because pear shaped diamonds reflect light from so many directions (which is great) but for that reason, are also prone to showing even the smallest of inclusions.
The cut is significantly more important for this shape. As you are probably aware, like the marquise cut, a pear shaped diamond can be prone to the bow tie shadow/effect (dark shadows in the middle of the stone that look like teeny bow ties.)
That said, I have seen some absolutely magnificent pear shaped diamonds, so if you find the perfect stone, I'd say go for it.
So, right now including this Pear I'm considering 3 stones:
(1) Pear mentioned above <Most expensive>
(2)Hearts & Arrow (AGS0 Ideal) Round 3.09 carat , G, VS1
(3)Vintage Cushion 3.13 carat, G, VS2 <Least expensive>
(2) is AGS0 Ideal, so it performs GREAT!
I have seen the pictures & videos of (3), and this also is a magnificent stone!!!
If these are your option, what would you pick???? I'm going crazy trying to decide here!!
I love my pear. It is brilliant cut, color F with VS2 clarity. Carat weight is 4.17 with .25 tapered baguettes. No fluorescence. V tip setting (platinum) Depth is 61.4% and table diameter is 52%. I have seen "fat" pears but am very happy with my proportions.
BTW I got another stacking band - antique platinum 1/2 eternity with love knots on each side and micro beading. I am done LOL
out of these 3 probably the round-just bc it will never go out of style; very classic. again, it all depends on the stones that you are looking at. can you compare them all side by side? this is important.
I was just going to refer you to the gorgeous pear of onegirlcreative. But she already found this thread herself. She is a stacking queen. I love what she does with her pear ring in combination with various eternity rings.
Go for something special, but make sure you try them youself like vanbruntsa says.
ahhhh, thanks monica!!! what a sweet thing to say.
here is a better pic of my ring with another stacked ring with it.
