Any love for oval shaped nails?

I took this quiz http://www.nicolebyopi.com/life-in-lacquer/best-shape-you and it gave me Square! Ew!

Here's my most recent mani. This is pretty much my ideal length (about a week's growth after being cut down to the quick) and shape. I would love for them to be even more almond-shaped but that means I have to grow the nails longer and I only like having short free edges.

You can see from the third picture that I like to make the curve up on the free edge match the curve up on my cuticles.

EDIT: I thought I should add an older picture of my natural nails to show why I prefer the oval shape. They naturally are very rounded and curved so you can understand when I do them square or squoval there is way too much extra nail on the two corners which feels weird. Also this is usually the longest I ever leave my free edge while still feeling comfortable typing and working, so I don't have to worry about nail strength/integrity.

Your hands and nails look beautiful :) I wish I could shape so symmetrically.

Oval and rounded are my favorite shapes; they elongate my little baby hands, haha! Square looks good on others, but makes my fingers look shorter :( Oddly, my nail beds are less rounded than the examples shown here, but still naturally try to grow round.

I also have little baby hands. And I also had to just give up on square nails. My hands look so much better with rounded or oval nails.

Dita von Teese always wears oval or almond nails, and they look fantastic, especially with the vintage-styled moon manicure. Oval was "the" nail shape in the 1940s & 50s. Super pointy nails were also popular for a short time during the 30s & 40s. If you watch a lot of old movies you'll pick up on it. I think square & "squoval" only really came into popularity in the 80s.

I have short fingers, but I find that squoval looks the best on me, and my nails seem to break less. I occasionally do file them oval for a change, though!

I find my nails pretty strong and stable with polish on them so long as they don't get the wrong type of knock, I find polish adds elasticity to the nails and I've always shaped my nails as pointed ovals though they are less pointed now.

One of the things that made me decide to go back to ovals was watching the Mad Men series. All the actresses have these gorgeous oval manicures. Always perfect. Made me appreciate it again.

I like oval shapes when they look natural, like the above picture! My nails are naturally a little more squoval-ish, so that's how I wear them. I really dislike square or stiletto nails, because they look so artificial...
Hey, count me in! Love the oval nail, find they look classic and natural and what's best is they elongate the nailed for me giving an appearance of longer fingers and nails! Finally I have actually found that oval nails tend to catch and break less for me than square finished nails.

That's exactly my hands, also - little kid hands. I don't know if I would say I do really proper oval nails, but they tend to be more oval than squoval or square. I kind of go with what seems like it suits how the nail grows rather than a specific shape - I don't try to get them all a perfectly uniform shape, either. As long as they're all the same length and approximately the same sort of shape they end up looking okay, imo. :) (Some of my nails are a little more squared off at the cuticle so doing a strong oval tip looks unbalanced on those.)

Square and squoval look pretty awful on me, though. Just make my short fingers look even shorter. :(

I'm currently pointy-almond. I like the shape, but they're shorter than I'd like ~ normally I'd grow out my squares a lot longer before I go almond. But needs must and I had an accident a couple of weeks ago and lost the corner of my thumbnail.

Here's a couple of manis from this week (Elevation Daisen over RBL Abiquiu and HARE Heat Plague):

Think you have to go with the nail shape that is most flattering for your hands..

Love the look of DvT nails, but it wouldnot work for me..

I love red & have short nails but I do have a long nail bed so this
works for me (straight sides very slightly rounded corners)

Hi definitely agree with you, I don't like oval nails on me at all, I have very long fingers that are slender and find that a square nail balances out my hands.

YES! I always thought I was the only one who had different shaped nail beds :p

I know. You see all the quizzes and guides about how to choose the most flattering shape for your fingers and it's like '... but WHICH fingers?'

And you can't actually do a totally different thing depending on the shape of the nail bed because that does look really strange, like you forgot what you were doing halfway through.
