A few weeks ago there was a thread about Stiletto nails, but now I'm wondering how many of you out there are partial to oval shaped nails. I grew up when oval nails were the thing and I just recently fell in love with them again. My hands just look better with oval nails. I tried the square/squoval thing for awhile, but I never could feel good about how it looked on me and now I'm so happy to be back to the ovals I grew up with.

Anyone else feeling this way?
Feel free to share pictures.
Think of this thread as a haven for the ovals!! :graucho:

I wear mine as slightly pointed oval, i always have, if i tried square i know i would start bitting my nails again, something i stopped doing when i was 12-13 years old. Though my nails look quite pointed in this image, this was my last mani:

I like oval shapes when they look natural, like the above picture! My nails are naturally a little more squoval-ish, so that's how I wear them. I really dislike square or stiletto nails, because they look so artificial...

Me too. I love the look of oval nails but they just don't look right on my hands. Squoval or square looks best on me.

I totally agree. Squoval looks most natural on me, but I think oval shaped nails look really pretty when they look natural. I've seen some beautiful oval nails.

Lovely nails! This is pretty much how I shape mine, too. When I try to do square, one corner always ends up breaking off then I have to round it out anyway.

Thanks though they look shorter in the picture then they seem to me, might be because the polish on them in the pic is dark. I try to keep the length of my nails even and i did lose a couple of milameter of nail on my ring finger so that's probably why they seem short to me in the picture, but i don't usually let them get past a certain length as they start feeling a little vulnerable, as if they're about to break, also once they get past a certain length it gets hard doing things like picking up coins. lol

I think oval is a more stable shape then square, true its easier to shape a nail into square, I know that nail techs prefer square. I used to get my nails done though stopped over a year ago but i always used to do the final shape myself, even now the day after ive done my nails i'm studying the shape making sure the shape is right, but i'm a bit obsessive about it. lol

Me! I've loved mine since I changed them.

Ooooh! I can see why! Your nails are gorgeous!! I wish I could grow mine that long, but one always breaks before I get there. I'm rough on my hands, though.
Another reason I like the oval is because my nails seem longer than when they're square shaped.

I love the look of oval nails and almond nails. My nail beds are too long to do almond nails while still keeping the free edge relatively short (I only like growing them out about a millimeter or two) so mine are mostly always ovals. I've tried squaring off my nails two to three times in the past couple months and I really dislike it. I can't get used to how they feel either with the extra bits of nail jutting out at each corner, but that's just due to my nail beds being very oval already. The one bonus is that squovals look really uniform and neat, but I just don't think they look feminine on me.

I like oval nails a heck of a lot more an stiletto. I more or less always stick with a squoval because I have some nails that naturally grow up square, and some round. So it seems to b the best compromise hehe.

I think oval nails can be really feminine and nice if done well. I think they suit short to medium length nails more than long nails.
