I was told in Singapore, for silks only maxi twilly and twilly had price increase. All other silks, price remain the same. Birkin 30 up by S$600 and K32 is now more expensive than B30.

Correct!!!

+2. My Hermes SA from FSH said just today, he has had TWO different Russian VIP clients turn down exotics. Never happened with these two clients, who have previously asked to be sent exotic bags w/out even asking the price.

With my consulting business, I can confirm there is a HUGE amount of art and jewelry from Russian sellers that have been offloaded in the past few weeks, in levels unseen since the 2009 financial crisis.

The Hermes US buyers will unfortunately feel most of the brunt from all the overseas currency volatility.

Your experience seems to be in the majority.

Am such the skeptic when it comes to buying into how well the U.S. is doing. Numbers are constantly being manipulated ala smoke and mirrors, the shell game. The market is volatile. It takes time to see results and as a U.S. buyer looking at $450 for a silk scarf, I'll pick from the stack of orange boxes in the closet. The question remains will I walk away from the special order Kelly due to the substantial and yes incredible price hike. I certainly wasn't expecting this much of a price increase for a Kelly let alone $450 for a scarf. Maybe I am alone in my thinking but that's fine too.

$15.00 increase on a scarf I can handle, $1200.00 increase on a Kelly is more difficult and unexpected.
I honestly thought the increase would be in the 4-5% range.
I'm just hoping that my two Ks will come in before the next increase...

I agree with you on the US market, but I guess H and the others are looking at the US relative to the other markets. We are doing much better than the Eurozone, Russia, China, and Japan. Can't say that it is something to celebrate, but in relative terms, the US is far stronger than others, and poised to be for some time. In any case, I expect H and the others will see a slowdown in growth.

I recall back around '09 the guest speakers on wealth track, who are financial experts, heads of investment companies saying we will never be back to where we were before the economy imploded; we will change the way we live. I would say they were correct; there is still a lack of consumer confidence and the economy is global. I think hermes may have shot themselves in the face with this increase. The repeated hikes by Chanel drove me away and I see this in the same vein. Am thinking seriously about selling my h stock. If I feel ill at ease market research says thousands of others are too.

Kelly 35 is 10100 chf. A definite increase from 2014.

Oh my! I haven't checked this thread for a while and in the meantime the Euro and CHF reached parity... My husband was joking around that if my Kelly should arrive soon I should cancel my order unless they adapt the price... And now, it just seems outrageous that on top of that, they hiked the price. Considering that if you get 11% in VAT back and would have to pay 8% percent for Swiss duties, you could roughly estimate that the price in EUR is all that would cost you in CHF and I see close to 40% in price between France in CHF.

Really feeling like an itch to write to the price monitorer in Switzerland. How can they even justify the price difference at this stage?

Jmen - you are not alone in your thinking at all. Couldn't agree with you more about shopping in my own closet. While the price increase from a dollar perspective on a silk scarf is not significant, it's more about the price of the silk scarf hitting an upper threshold in my own mind of what I'm willing to pay. It's like my comment about the price increase on the Ulysses MM lined paper in a previous post. And I agree with your comment re: SO Kelly. While I don't have a SO Kelly on order, I do get offered bags by my SA, unprompted, and I will be quite reluctant to open my wallet and spring for one unless I feel like I just can't live without it.

Has anyone heard of the pricing strategy for SOs changing recently!? I have been offered my first SO since the 2015 price increase, BUT have been told it will cost 40% more than an off the shelf bag (and this came straight from the SM's mouth).

I nearly fell. off. my. chair. I have never heard of anything like this before. I'm not based in the US or Europe, so I don't know if different rules apply for SOs in different countries......? Anyone's help would be appreciated!!

Wow!!!
I have not heard this before. I have yet to place a SO, but I asked for several things at podium and the SM at my boutique told me that if I couldn't get what I wanted at podium, there was a good chance that it, or something I would like, would be available for SO after podium. Nothing was said about a premium on SO, and a 40% premium would be outrageous!

:faint: The price of an SO Kelly is now scaring me...

(I should be so lucky though ;):p)

I know!!! I'm so confused. When the SM said it, I was tempted to say no she must be mistaken... And it's not a super special order involving diamond hardware or anything, I would just be after a bag with contrast stitching and a different colour interior!?

I wonder if it's just in my country? I don't think I can justify spending so much more for an SO, the prices are already ridiculous.

I've been enjoying reading this thread and just came across this article which I thought relates to some of the factors discussed earlier on economics. :flowers:

p/s: Mods, kindly move this as you see fit if this isn't the right thread to share this. Thanks!
Thank you for posting this. It is more evidence of my theory that we are in a bubble.
H and the others have ramped up both production and prices with the expectation that the market will continue to grow at previous levels. I think they have overshot.
