I’m the same. I’ve opened my cupboards and hate how much I have. I am selling a lot of bags and will do another round again. Right now, i want to use what I have. I hate how much time this obsession takes up, the looking, searching, selling, listing. It’s such a waste of time! I’m happy to have the ones I’m keeping and I’ve also added some other brands. If I add more, it’s only for a holy grail bag.

I love this post!!! So good to hear so many of you ladies going through what I’m feeling! I stopped chasing chanel for the past two years, wasn’t sure if it was the insane prices or I was just happy with my collection. I have 8 bags... all classics but in various sizes. all black , one beige. The only regret I have is not being able to get that illusive perfect red classic.. I seemed to miss the 12b and 17b . Other than that I’ve not really been drawn to any of the new bags or designs. The prices are just so expensive now. Maybe if they were cheaper I’d still be buying heheh

I have started looking at Hermes just think they are more worth it. But in general my obsession with bags and the thrill of the chase has waned. Maybe it changing priorities etc.

It’s really good hearing your stories and it’s not just me ☺️

I’ve been a Chanel-aholic for quite sometime now. This past year I’ve sold and bought off quite a few bags to “ complete” my collection and tailor it to my lifestyle. I used to love the thrill of the chase. Snagging the newest mini, or getting any bag that’s “ hard to get”. But recently I feel super content with my collection, as if it’s complete. Part of me is sad because I don’t find the same excitement going into the boutique when I don’t really have a desire to purchase anything! Does anyone else feel like their collection is complete?
My name is Jean and I have been a “Chanel-aholic” for 15 years. Although I want another jumbo in beige, the price increases are what’s making my collection complete. I had 13 bags and sold 8. Some I wore to death and needed a change, others were like new and didn’t really go with my outfits. Some were sale bags from 2003-2014 when Chanel had bags on sale. I had bought a burgundy chevron seasonal medium and a black patent jumbo and every time I took them out, I went with the “piece de resistance “ otherwise known as black jumbo with gold hardware. So now I am down to the “Fab 5” - black Chanel Cerf tote, 225 reissue so black, 226 reissue black with gold hardware, new medium boy so black, and my black jumbo with gold hardware. I can’t believe 10 years ago I would complain about paying 3k for a bag and now that seems like nothing, but now 6k is way too much because the quality has gone down. I have sent back a few bags for bad stitching at both NM and Saks. The seasonal bags are not made as well as the classics and I don’t like the leather on many of them. I think I speak for a lot of people that when the jumbo goes over 6k, my relationship with the brand might end as well.

Love this post, and totally connect with many of your opinions.:heart::heart:
I’ve been feeling this for quite a while. :girlsigh:Not just with my bags but my wardrobe too. just not been wowed by much, my heart hasn’t gone boom for a while Since the dark beige mini stole my heart.
The last one on my list is the birkin I dream of - b30. Which I’m slowly saving away for.
I’m definitely at purse piece with chanel for sure, I have around 8 pieces in total and very happy with my collection.
I have 3 LV and my eye on a few More and maybe Dior, but again will only go ahead if I really love them and they serve a purpose.
I’m more interested now in having a complete wardrobe overhaul and buying everlasting wardrobe staples instead. I think I’ve not just reached the feeling my collection is complete, but that I am too.:giggle:

YES YES YES! I’ve said “no more bags” so many times over the years, but now I feel like I really mean it lol. I’ve been through so many buying frenzies, and finally this year I decided to cut down my collection. I’ve gotten it down to 18, still working my way down to 10-12. The one bag that I do still want to get is the perfect neutral dark/charcoal grey jumbo with GHW or LGHW, but with the insane price increases, by the time that combination comes out, it probably wouldn’t be worth it for me to buy. So I think I can say I’m finally at “purse peace”.

I am already done with Chanel last year when received my 17b red mini from NM that was questionable quality - smells cheap chemical on thick heavy leather and twisted thick chains. 17b red mini was very popular with pretty shade and still highly sought after, but newer Chanel Sales people and recent buyers who are new to Chanel never notice the differences on leather quality from older version of caviar minis.
I am not a celeb who show off their money with this brand which keep increasing price insanely and decreasing quality. Chanel lost their good grace. I started to feeling sick of where this brand house was going and I got sort of disgusting feelings to see the way CC logo was shown off the money in towns and cities. I keep my old good quality of 5 reissues and quality minis from 10 years ago and 13S blue lamb, but now am trying to sell all my Chanel purses include my 17b red mini and downsize my collection from 20 to 7, then i am good and off to farewell to current Chanel for my good life.

I'm pretty happy with what I currently have. There are only 2 items that if I ever find would make me pull out my wallet and that's a reissue 224 (been looking for almost 3 years) and the perfect tweed preferably in a reissue.

I'm with you on the reissue 224, as I've been on the lookout for a number of years as well. Otherwise, I'm very much "at peace" with my collection.

... Once I get my last piece in the mail tomorrow :graucho:

My collection is complete, but I only have 8 bags. My style is very classic / traditional. Tailored business suit, clean lines. My bags are a match to my style. As such, all of my purses are nearly the same - 2.55 in vintage and modern styles, jumbo, XLs, and Maxis. All my bags are black. There is very little diversity in my collection, but that is my style and Chanel doesn’t have anything else for me to buy that fits my style LOL. I’m happy and content . I’ve actually got two of the same bag, except one has the large vintage “CC”. I also understand the “thrill of the chase” and the fun in getting a new bag, but there’s nothing left for me to get.

With the price increase I am close to completing my collection. I will add 2 more pieces (Black jumbo with silver hardware and a second deauville ) and I will be done. With these prices I can not justify buying more bags.

I'd just like to say as a newbie to Chanel bags, this is a very interesting thread to read. I am in an unusual position where I have always been infatuated with Chanel for its history, impact and unique style, but as far as bags go I was very fortunate to go from 0 to 100 on a classic black flap in gold hardware and then by a miracle, stumble upon a vintage in pretty decent condition (to me at least) at a price I never expected to see in a 2nd hand shop in Japan.

I had been lurking around for a while before falling in love with the idea of carrying around a designer brand, as I typically a bit of a Luddite with most things but I really was drawn to the quality and formality. After reading about the recent decline in service, craftsmanship and materials while price-hiking I was really turned off the idea of buying new, especially when my pre-loved is almost 30 years old and full of charm and quality in spades. I would love a navy, charcoal, or grey Reissue 227 in caviar as my large"work-horse" for maybe $2,000 or so pre-loved, but that's probably never going to happen. Other than that I would be keen on something tiny in tweed in something pink or beige to match light outfits and then I think that would pretty much have me covered for a long while. I am the kind of person who really plans out a collection or goal before starting and I think 3 Chanel bags in different sizes and colors is more than enough for all my various occasions, and my dream tote is already a monogrammed "Rasa" from Lotuff and not a Chanel. In general if I never had another Chanel bag other than my classic flap, I would be content.

I always think I am at purse peace. I thought I was there after I went through my So Black craze. I glanced at my collection and said "Purse Peace." THEN I recently purchased 16c iridescent bronze medium flap with rainbow hardware (which you know you need to seize the opportunity). Purse Peace. Then came along the 17B iridescent rose gold medium flap (which you know you need to seize the opportunity). Purse Peace. Then came along the 17B gray medium flap (which you know you need to seize the opportunity). Purse Peace. I MUST REALLY BE AT PURSE PEACE!! I will repeat this over and over to myself, LOL. But I really do think I am at finally at Purse Peace.....for Chanel :)

Collection complete???
I just have to say:
Hahahahahahaha!!!!!

lol :lol::lol::lol:

But seriously, I wish. Chanels are like expensive Lay’s potato chips. You just can’t stop!!! Or is that another brand of chip??? Maybe Chanel is like Pringles. Regardless, I can resist the chips and they are wayyyyy cheaper :crybaby:
