I’ve been a Chanel-aholic for quite sometime now. This past year I’ve sold and bought off quite a few bags to “ complete” my collection and tailor it to my lifestyle. I used to love the thrill of the chase. Snagging the newest mini, or getting any bag that’s “ hard to get”. But recently I feel super content with my collection, as if it’s complete. Part of me is sad because I don’t find the same excitement going into the boutique when I don’t really have a desire to purchase anything! Does anyone else feel like their collection is complete?

For all intents and purposes I am done with my Chanel collection. It’s definitely not a big one at 5 bags (sold two), but it’s enough. I am barely able to wear all of my bags, and I’ve made a concerted effort to buy classic designs that will last a long time. Of course if I had more disposable income I would happily buy more bags, but at this point it’s not necessary. Plus I am tired of all of the price increases and would rather focus on building my jewelry collection.

I’m glad you posted this! Although the biggest CHANEL I have is a timeless pochette, I’m satisfied with my collection for now as well! [emoji847] I certainly enjoy being here and admiring everyone’s bags, jewelry and SLGs. I would love a tote size or medium flap but for my lifestyle and financial situation I wouldn’t be able to wear a larger bag as much as my Small CHANEL bags. I feel too conscientious with a bigger bag for every day. I enjoy wearing my small earrings, my 2 pins. My WOC and clutch with chain is more functional for me on a regular basis. I do have an extra mini that’s champagne in color and is my most expensive bag at $3200 but it is my least used CHANEL. So it’s reserved for special occasions.

I did have an opportunity to buy a small leather deauville. As much as it pained me, I passed because I couldn’t spend 4K and not use it every day. I commute on the train and walk almost a mile in all kinds of weather. And on the weekends, I use a smaller bag (sigh).

I feel my collection (though small) is complete - particularly as I'm acquiring today my HG: caviar boy with GHW
I reckon from the collector's PoV I could add a few bags to make the collection complete but my lifestyle doesn't support small (ish) bags (like multiple M/L or coco handle). The recent price increase was too much for me so now moving onto hunting Hermes  Also after satisfying my Chanel hunger I am moving back onto less expensive brands such as Gucci or Chloe (before I focussed on ensuring I'll acquire enough Chanel before their prices will equal a luxury car lol)

Me! I wrote a thread/ post in March after I got my boy bag about being at chanel "purse peace" (not really a phrase but some people are using it now! [emoji3]). I have six bags and some slg. I'm completely happy with my collection. Every single piece from color to purpose has been thought out so I don't feel like I need anything else anymore. My husband is soooo happy! Now I'm making the effort to use my purses now. It's easier with a 2.5 year old who is now potty trained because I don't have to carry a bunch of stuff but my next son is due in week soooooo I'll be going back to using my Prada diaper bag. Thinking of getting a saint Laurent backpack. Yea... As far as Chanel goes.. I'm happy.

Yes, I totally feel the same! I used to be super excited by new collection drops and loved wandering into the boutiques to browse. I too have accumulated quite a number of bags these past two years and finally sold off a few that didn’t work for me. Definitely feel my Chanel collection is quite complete and the aggressive price increases have also dulled the excitement of further bag hunting. I’m quite pleased to find myself no longer hankering after more Chanel while loving what I own. [emoji2]

Ha ha funny that you said you moved on to Hermès and also less expensive brands like Gucci. I’m doing the same. My last bag was an Hermès Evelyne and I feel if I got another bag it would be a Gucci. Now that I have all the classics I wanted I think 2k bags like Gucci sound so much more palatable.

dear @mssmelanie if I can ask what is your opinion about your clutch on chain (with 2 zips)...since you have both the WOC and clutch what you prefer from this 2? I have "the problem" of putting 2 keys -car and home keys and the comfort of taking the things out... I saw both of them in the shop and the WOC borrow me with his way to be closed and about the clutch I have the doubt about the key.... please please please some advice?)))))))

I realised how inconsistent that is. Guess Hermes would be for the thrill of hunting while others for just pleasure lol. Also the size (B 30/35 and K 32) are more suitable for me (work, day out in London) and Chanel proposition in that space doesn’t thrill me (I do like Deauville but so far didn’t come across the colour combo that I’d like)

I feel the same. Although Chanel and Hermes serves different aesthetic purpose to me, my Chanel collection now fulfils my needs on that side. I only just started with H (one Lindy and a few double-tour leather bracelets) but I love how it feels different to my Chanels. I also find myself gravitating towards H with Chanel’s aggressive price hikes. I’m looking to round out H with one or two more bags but I’m in no hurry at all. It really helps that H bags (at least the ones I want) are not that accessible so yes to thrill of the hunt.
