I completely agree with you about people liking different things. I used to only like coach and not MK but now MK is my favorite. One of my friends only buys Tory Burtch and Kate Spade. However, you are wrong to say that no one is bashing MK. Even before I started getting in to the line I was shocked at how mean and snotty some of the comments I read were. I read an article where a lady posted why he basically is a sucky designer and should be sued for copies. Someone commented and said she disagreed and loved the line because it's great quality and affordable and she was pretty much attacked by several commenters for being trashy and unsophisticated. Someone actually told her since she obviously couldn't afford a real designer bag (ie. Better than MK) her opinion was irrelevant. It's terrible. People are so damn snotty. I envy those of you who can afford premier brands, and I think you have the right to buy what you want, but I'm a teacher. If I have an extra 1500 dollars to spend I would rather go on a great vacation than spend it on a bag. Especially when I can have a gorgeous bag by Coach or MK for 350 and still go on a vacation.

+1, heard and seen the same things. So sad :( Thanks bootlover07 for your dedication on such a hard yet rewarding career.

The authenticators here in the MK forum were recently contacted by a Prada authenticator, who needed backup, once again, from yet another MK basher. She asked us to come to her aid, so we did! We have to deal with this routinely, and it's just getting old. If any of you want to 'chime in', by all means, please do! Many of you that know me here, will be shocked, and laugh at me of all people, defending the MK saffiano leather! lol! But by golly, leave my Michael Kors alone! lol!

This is getting so ridiculous......If someone doesn't like a purse so be it. I agree that if someone is attacking a person's character for the purse they carry that is wrong. But majority of the comments that I've seen have been critical of a purse design period.

If I call a purse tacky.....that's just what it is...tacky. I'm not calling the person carrying it tacky. You have to be adult enough to know the difference.

Just like if I say all purses in saffiano look cheap, that's again my opinion. It has nothing to do with an individual person. I happen to think all saffiano looks cheap whether it's a $3000 purse or a $100 purse.

Learn to not take things so personally......again we are talking about purses.....objects...things....we can take none of this with us when we are dead!!!

I agree with you. However, while I can't speak for everyone on this thread, I think most of us are less offended by the fact that people don't like the brand, and more offended by the comments made about people who carry the brand. Based on the comments you said you have read I can understand why you would think people are just sensitive. Honestly there are plenty of designs by MK and other brands that I think are way tacky. But many people go beyond that and call the people who carry the brands sad and uninformed, or say they don't know any better than to carry those bags. That is when people get offended. I'm agreeing with you that everyone has a right to their own opinion and it's a stupid thing to worry about. I'm just pissed off that people have to be catty and ugly about it. Half of the stuff in my closet is from DSW or TJ Maxx because I agree with you about not being able to take it with you lol!!

Yes, but when we are contacted via private email for help?? That shows the volume of how overboard this has become. You can tell me taking it personally is ridiculous, however that won't change how I feel about it. It is just plain un necessary and rude. Period! I am guilty of it myself, for criticizing saffiano leather which I am not in favor of, but I assure everyone, they won't hear it from me again and I have often times commented how beautiful the colors are, and telling them to enjoy, always trying to stay positive, even though I won't have any bags in saffiano! My mom always taught me "it is just as easy to say something nice as it is to be unpleasant. In fact, it is easier!" Boy, was she ever right! I always make NICE comments on the saffiano bags I see ladies showing off, or I don't say anything at all! . Let them have some fun, for crying out loud! There is always at least ONE nice thing you can say, and that is all that should be said, period! Anything else is just derogatory and rude.

I think I have gotten to know you well enough and yes I was floored regarding saffiano, as I know you have no love for, yet always provide kind words on other attributes of the bag, (ie, color, style, shape, function) lol!

Thank you, Luv! There is beauty to find in most everything. If you LOOK for it, you will see it. I try my best to do that. Why focus on the negative? I just don't get it.

I think Michael just came onto the scene so hard and fast that it overwhelms some people, perhaps???

I think this is the reason maybe!?
To be honest, I really find this whole MK bashing so ridiculous.
All this "he's not even a real designer... blabla... "
Well I'd actually love breaking the news to these people that it was the "non-Designer" Michael Kors who brought back the oh-so-chic and oh-so-exclusive Celine brand. Maybe also a little reminder that he designed the absolutely incredible outfits for Rene Russo in the Thomas Crown Affair?
Just because he now does lots of bags that strike some or a lot of resemblance to other brands doesn't mean he's not a good designer or that the brand needs to be bashed.

Brands are copying from each other. Even high end brands. Am I the only one who has noticed that not only the Selma has the same bat-shape as the Celine luggage, but also the very expensive Ralph Lauren Ricky?
What about the Celine Trio? My LV Twinset definitely seems to have been inspired by it. Doesn't mean it's not a great design by itself.
In fact, the Celine Trio isn't so original, either. My aunt has a bag from the 70s which looks nearly exactly like it!
The list is endless. If designers weren't "inspired" by each other the only jeans we'd all be wearing today would be Levi's :thinkin:
We would have missed out on some great jeans brands and my closet would be empty :D

We all have different preferences and needs due to our different lifestyles. I gave my Birkins and two Dior bags two my mum. Yes, the quality is great, but I don't have the lifestyle for these things (she has :smile1:).
Instead, I love LV canvas and MK Saffiano, because they are perfect for my lifestyle (wipeable :D)
Live and let live

+1 Most posters criticize the design not the person. Criticizing a person's character for choosing a bag is mean. However, a person with high confidence does not focus on that type of people. Those types of people will always exist, especially on the internet. On the internet people need to have thicker skin because most people are more brutally honest with their opinions. MK lovers Vera Bradley receives less appreciation for their designs than MK on here. I own three of them, and I'm not going on a crusade about it. It's not worth my time to fight over the adoration of others opinions. I don't need their validation or approval of a bag I adore. Concentrating on the positive will attract more people to the brand than focusing on the outliners that bring more negativity to the brand. Enjoy your bag girls and leave the policing to the people who run this forum. :smile1:
** This is my perspective on life in general and forums, so it's not up to a never ending debate. **

lol! Yes, me and my friends call them "keyboard commandos" lol! Say things online they would never say to your face. How pathetic is that?? You are right about several things, but no matter how one colors it, it's just plain rude and there is just way too much of it, as most of us here agree. It is good to call it out and point out just how wonderful Michael Kors really is. So many here have brought up some really good points. Some that I didn't even know. We never stop learning and I hope some of the 'critics' have learned a few things as well about this wonderful designer that makes so many people happy.

GREAT POST!:drinkup: You're so right about the different life styles and what is needed to go with them. Right on!

Ok, I see you think that will work for you. For me, it is pointless. I usually ignore the Simon Cowells because they feed off of upsetting people with their brutally honest comments. Now if there is a misconception I will note it, but I won't create a scene out of it, it's just not needed. We get more honey with kindness. Some of the meanest comments said about the bags I love on this forum don't affect my life. So, I see no need to let it affect my behavior. I have noticed the fastest I forget about the comment the least relevant it's to my life. I will let you guys be. I see you guys are happy this way. For me, it's a worthless crusade because you can't change people unless they want to change.

I wouldn't really call pointing out the facts, a crusade? lol! Not trying to change anyone. Just stating the facts about Michael Kors. You are right however, mean people will always be mean people, so big and brave behind the shelter of their keyboards. If some woman every called me cheap and trashy to my face?? That would be the last time she'd say it! lol! Then they could add, 'crazy' to their list! lol!
