Somebody's beautiful may be your idea of "tacky" and vice versa. There is no need to get so upset over what strangers on the internet like or this case, dislike. The honest truth is many MMK designs do mimic those of premier designs. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I like that, most of the time, he adds more functional value to the handbag and not everyone wants to spend thousands for a bag. The double zip style that you posted is not an MMK original design. That style has been around for forever and when I think of that style, I think of Prada. I am sure that Prada released their version before MK released his version. Tory Burch also has a design just like this style. But, POHtato, Pahtato. If you love it and can afford it, BUY IT! Enjoy your purchases with pride knowing that you own something that you love. I love LV monogram. I've seen people on forums bashing it constantly, calling it tacky and overpriced plastic. It isn't fun to see but they're just as entitled to that opinion as I am entitled to carry it. So, no cares given here to their opinion. I can't force them to like something that they don't and trying to do so would be a little disrespectful.

AGREE, ONE MILLION PERCENT. When I think of the double zip I think of Prada or TB. There are several MK bags which are similar to other designers, however the price-point of MK makes it easy to afford several colours/styles/sizes for a lot less. The most important thing is that you like what you're carrying. I hate being judged as a student for having a different designer bag each time I go to class or to work. It's my money that I've worked for and I'll spend it where I like, however that is a rant for another time[emoji5]️

MK may have used the double zipper design on his Sutton, as an idea from someone else, but what I am showing is that Coach, recently came out this year, with the STANTON, which is identical to the Sutton.( the name even sounds similar, lol!) The point being, is that THEY ALL copy each other! To single out Michael Kors as the ONLY designer that is doing this, is just ludicrous! There are only so many ways a bag style can be and every designer has their own version of it. I am not the least bit upset about the constant bashing. I am just asking, is it really necessary??

Again, it's not bashing its a difference of opinion.

I guess you haven't seen any of these threads I am referring to. When you call the bags cheap, ugly, copy cats, and the women that carry them, trash??? I'm sorry, but that is clearly bashing. We have seen it over and over and it is so rude and un necessary.

This is too funny. Everyone in design copies everyone. Even when I attended college for interior design we learned how even interior designers "copy" each other. I don't think it's as much about copying as it is there are only so many ways you can design a bag, just like there are so many ways you can design a chair or a sofa. What's important is is the designer's take on it. What kind of special touch do they add or what coloring do they use, etc etc? I just purchased the MKC Casey and yes, my first reaction was "Wow, this looks just like a Prada or Hermes" but what ended up getting me was A) price point, I could never afford either the Prada or Hermes version and B) the color choice is absolutely beautiful with the silver hardware. It just caught my eye more than the same version bag from another designer. To each their own, but personally I don't play into the designers "copying" each other theory.

You hit the hammer right on the head! That is exactly what all designers do and no one could have said it better than that! THANK YOU!!

I agree with you, I just don't get why there seems to be sooo much hatred towards a bag!! I read some of the threads the other day and people really are quite snobby in their attitude. I buy the bags because I like a style or colour and the price point allows me to have a range of bags to choose from every day- I get enjoyment from that. I have my own opinions on some of the more expensive designer bags but I don't go bashing them or the people who choose them. Life is too short to spend time posting negative comments and actually it is too short to analyse what bags people carry. I can spot a nice looking bag in the street but I then don't spend time looking to see who (or even if there is one) the designer is. I am certainly not going to waste time trying analyse if that bag is copy of another bag and work out who designed it first. As has been said numerous times all bags look similar to whatever is fashionable. Some of the MMK bags do resemble others but I don't care and I'm not spending my precious time to see research who copies who.

LOL. YOu'd like my COach right now... Madison satchel glove tanned leather.

Anyways, i don't get why they single out MK either that is something i will never understand the copying/inspiring pick a word is out there by everyone unless it's a blatant copy where trademarks are being violated GET OVER IT.

There is only so much one can do with a bag, there will always be similarities. I get people not liking stuff i don't like everything either but it's undertone of nasty i dislike, the go for the throat we must make this person feel like dirt for even considering buying one let alone owning one... excuse me?

If your paying for my bags -maybe- you have a right to some opinion but i am fairly sure your not so cut the nonsense.

I only recently got into purses, i always carried nice leather ones but through a company in my country and carried them for years before buying ONE to replace it with. Now the kids are grown i am more focused on myself, the forum is fun but sometimes the arrogant snobbery really gets to me...

They are PURSES get over it, no way are they important enough to play mean girls(or guy) this is so high school and annoys the heck outta me.. i even enjoy hearing others gain pleasure from bags you wouldn't catch me tossing a dime at...

Really some people just cannot learn how to present opinions with out tearing others down that is far more terrible than some purse you dislike.

MK gets called out for it because he does it extremely blatantly and extremely often. Coach is also heading in the same direction. Acknowledging this is not bashing.

Edited to add that I still love both Coach and MK. But, I'm not oblivious.

Agreed!!!!

. I just don't agree that he does it any more than anyone else and he certainly does have his own designs and many of them. You have to consider that when he came on the scene in 1981, pretty much every type of handbag style had already been produced. It was way more difficult for him to come up with originals, but he did manage to do it and I think he should given EXTRA credit for this , since everything else had already been done. He really does have some unique options that I have never seen before, such as the ORings that open and are removable.

Check out the way these straps are able to be re positioned. I think this is VERY unique. They actually hook onto the bag and are removable to set into two different positions. I nave never seen this before. Does anyone else do this?? And yes, stating women that wear Michael Kors are cheap and trashy?? That is bashing at it's finest.

I think MK gets called out not because it's blatant but because the brand is pretty much carried everywhere you go so it's more "seen" than others. I'm not brand specific, If I see something I like, I get it. My on disgust is with fakes.

Nobody is bashing MK. People are too sensitive to tell the difference. Just because someone likes different things doesn't mean they are bashing.

I completely agree with you about people liking different things. I used to only like coach and not MK but now MK is my favorite. One of my friends only buys Tory Burtch and Kate Spade. However, you are wrong to say that no one is bashing MK. Even before I started getting in to the line I was shocked at how mean and snotty some of the comments I read were. I read an article where a lady posted why he basically is a sucky designer and should be sued for copies. Someone commented and said she disagreed and loved the line because it's great quality and affordable and she was pretty much attacked by several commenters for being trashy and unsophisticated. Someone actually told her since she obviously couldn't afford a real designer bag (ie. Better than MK) her opinion was irrelevant. It's terrible. People are so damn snotty. I envy those of you who can afford premier brands, and I think you have the right to buy what you want, but I'm a teacher. If I have an extra 1500 dollars to spend I would rather go on a great vacation than spend it on a bag. Especially when I can have a gorgeous bag by Coach or MK for 350 and still go on a vacation.

+! AGREED! However, MK does have bags that cost as much as 10,000.00!! So they really are a high end designer, it's just that they cater to every price range and wallet. I think it is very thoughtful of them.
