Another Louis Vuitton bag or a Cartier tank watch

Thanks everyone for your response so far. I'm leaning towards the watch for now. For those who have a Cartier watch already or planning, why did you choose Cartier over the other luxury brands like Rolex. I was watching some videos and articles and they were saying resale value on Cartier would lose around 40% immediately after buying whereas Rolex retains its value. So this throws another wrench. Not that I would want to sell the watch but it would be nice to know that I won't lose alot if I had to go down that path of selling it. It's a big purchase so I need to think more about and see it in person.

I’m afraid that’s quite the truth. A Rolex maintains its value better because everyone seems to want one. Like with LV canvas bags. I don’t know if this will still be true in 10 years. I personally would never wear a Rolex because I don’t like its image.
You should buy what you truly love.
Exactly. Rolex is the Vuitton of the watch world.

Definitely a watch! I love my Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso so much, I wear it every day.
If I got a Cartier now I would choose either the classic Tank solo in steel or the Tank Louis Francais in small yellow gold with leather bracelet.
Let’s know what you decide!
Ahh  the Reverso is my all time favourite. That watch is magical.

Thanks for introducing Jaeger. I never heard of this brand before. I will need to look into this brand too. The Reverso looks so pretty too.

Oh my!! This watch is at the top of my watch wishlist but the price tag for the duo face priced me out. I hope I can get one in the future :P

Buy what you love and what you'll wear. And definitely go check it out in person. It might not be right for you and a great jeweler will be able to show you other options. I have a Rolex, but there's absolutely no guarantee that anyone else will ever want to buy it from me if I decide to get rid of it. But I have a hard time treating "things" as investments anyway - they should bring you joy above all else.

I vote watch over bag, if you enjoy wearing watches. As far as Rolex....they are gorgeous but I prefer Cartier. Got the Panthere with diamonds a couple of years ago for my anniversary. I won't be selling it, and would not trade it for a bag!

I have the cartier santos dumont watch with the leather strap. Although its gorgeous. I do prefer a Rolex I have a vintage one I wear alot and looking at getting a new one. Theres just something about a Rolex that makes my heart flutter.. I love its classic looks. The brands history. The company's attention to detail from making the watch to point of sale. After care service, how they put in so much effort to make the watch have some unique authentication characteristics. like everything. Rolex is just brilliant at keeping the brands prestige up there. I just appreciate they don't cut corners from start to finish. So for me if i had the choice between the 2 and could only get 1. It would be Rolex all the way hands down I d rather wait and save more months or years for it.

that is true about Rolex, but as others say go with what you love. My first luxury watch was Cartier Ballon Blue and I still love it more than my Rolex. I think the Cartier has a refinement and delicate details that is more like a jewelry, regardless of the face size. I used to think of Rolex as new money and I'm wearing it because it's expensive attitude!! I have changed my mind about it, the same way I changed my mind about LV monogram!!LOL!! I have 2 rolxes now and I wear the ss/gold for an everyday watch because I don't want my Cartier to get scratchy. Regardless of which watch maker you go with, automatics keep their value better than quartz.
