The gemstone necklaces that Anna wears in the September Issue are antique Georgian foil-backed gemstone collet necklaces.... circa 1800's. I was very, very lucky to find one in flat-cut garnets not too long ago after looking for a long time for one in good condition. Her's are magnificent and must have cost the Earth!!!

Wow!!:faint:You know so much about jewelry S'Mom!! Well I guess J Crew is the best place to find something similiar!!:p

Here's an example of a Georgian collet necklace taken from some of the offerings by "Langes" antiques here in my neck of the woods. This one is cut-down foiled garnets in gold....on this necklace there is a cross made of the same garnets that can detach (as it is in this shot) and the whole shebang costs $14,000.00. They are highly coveted and very rare in good condition.....

Julide.....collecting Georgian jewelry is another passion of mine...

One more interesting fact about these Georgian Collet necklaces (and then I'll shut-up...LOL!!!)....unless the piece that connects one collet to the next is placed perfectly, the necklace will roll. This means the piece has to be placed at the top most section of each collet. The beauty of true Georgian collet necklaces is this placement of the connecting piece....assuring as best it can that the necklace remain in place when worn and not flipping around all the time.

My son has a friend who works with Anna Wintour and she says they are from the London jeweler S.J. Phillips LTD. I went on their website but did not see anything that was exactly the same. Maybe they did them custom for her. They must be expensive!! Desert Mermaid

I stand corrected Desert Mermaid, you are ABSOLUTELY right.
Anna Wintour's necklaces from the movie are indeed SJ Phillips. :smile1:

I happened to bump into one of the owners of SJ Phillips (one of the grandsons) who is in town, and he confirmed that her necklaces are from their lovely Bond Street boutique. The prices range from 10,000-50,000 pounds.

Here's a similar one currently on their website.
